The park was built in 1984 with the view to make it a local reserve. The park got official recognition of a natural reserve in 1988 with the order of the State Council.
In the beginning, the Mangrove Reserve was of 304 hectares of lands and now the entire area of the Mangrove Nature Reserve is over 360 hectares of lands. The park contains large tracts of mangrove forest, orchards and other natural forests. The Mangrove Reserve is the place to escape from the city bustling. The Shenzhen Mangrove Nature Reserve is located at the Binhai Road under Shenzhen City and is accessible through bus and taxi. If you are on bus, then ride on the bus no 332 or 369 and get off at the Mangrove stoppage. It may take about an hour to reach the park on bus. Besides, you can hire taxies to reach the park as well.

Hiring a bike is one of the best ways to travel inside the park. Besides, the tourists can take a hike in the areas to enjoy the beauty. Picnic is another way to pass the leisurely hours at the Mangrove Reserve. Be careful of the sun in the hot days and is better to visit in winter or any moderate temperature. The sitting arrangements are attractive and can watch birds sitting on the benches. The concrete paths under the tree shades are quite relaxing and beautiful too, so keep silence as much possible.

It is imperative to be careful about the wastes you make and use the waste bins to dispose them. Entrance at the Mangrove Reserve is free of cost. Be careful when you ride bike so that it may not hamper the others and the natural environment inside the park. Peacefully watch the birds and do not disturb them by throwing foods or anything that may cause harm to them.
All the facilities the tourists use should be kept clean by them as like you should clean the toilet properly after using that. Parking in the weekends is a bit problematic and riding bus is the best way on the day.
