The History of Yi Peng Lantern Festival is tied to their traditional beliefs and Buddist philosophy of letting go of your emotions that you might have bottled up in you and embracing the good fortune that is yet to come in the New Year. Traditionally, the Buddists of the former Thai kingdom started this tradition as a way to show respect to their Lord Budha.
