The first restaurant on the Giza Pyramids Plateau itself, opened in October 2020. Egyptian breakfasts and grills facing the pyramids make it a daytime stop on a Giza visit.
9 Pyramids Lounge is a daytime restaurant on the Giza Pyramids Plateau in Egypt, opened in October 2020 as the first restaurant on the plateau itself. It serves Egyptian breakfasts and grills facing the pyramids and suits visitors who want a meal with that view as part of a Giza visit.
Orascom Pyramids Entertainment runs the lounge. Its name comes from the nine royal pyramids visible from the terrace, including the three great pyramids and the smaller Queens' pyramids. Access is through the Mena House gate. You need the standard Giza Plateau entry ticket in addition to your meal, and cars are directed to the lounge's own parking. Most guests come by taxi or with a tour driver.
Breakfast is the meal people come for. The classic Egyptian spread brings ful (stewed fava beans), ta'ameya (Egyptian falafel made with fava beans) and fiteer, a flaky layered pastry, and omelettes and croissants are on offer too. Later in the day the menu moves to kebab, kofta and cold drinks. Reviewers agree that the view matters more than the cooking. Alcohol is not served, and prices are high for Egypt because of the location.
The lounge follows the plateau's daytime schedule. It opens at about 08:00 to 09:30, lunch runs until about 15:30 and the café stays open to 17:00. Last entry to the pyramids is around 15:30 to 16:00, but guests already inside can stay at the café until closing.
Reservations by email or phone are strongly advised, and the restaurant confirms your meal time by email. Walk-ins may get a table off-peak. Book the first breakfast slot and ask for a table in the covered gazebo area outdoors, then visit the pyramids before the midday heat and crowds.
The venue covers 1,341 square metres split into five spaces: a tented lounge, an outdoor majlis and three courtyard terraces. Orascom Investment Holding signed a 15-year contract for the plateau with Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in December 2018. At launch the menu added mezze such as baba ghanoush and stuffed vine leaves, shish taouk and kofta, feteer meshaltet and umm ali, with set breakfasts at EGP 175 plus 12% service and 14% VAT; prices have risen since. Walk-ins were refused when it opened, so a booking is the safe plan.
