Gran Hotel Miramar is a five-star resort and spa in a seafront palace on Paseo de Reding, in the La Malagueta district of Málaga, Spain. Hoteles Santos runs it, it is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, and it marks the palace's 100th anniversary. It suits couples and families who want a beach a few minutes away and the old town within walking distance.
Architect Fernando Guerrero Strachan designed the palace, and King Alfonso XIII opened it in 1926 as the Hotel Príncipe de Asturias, which is why the restaurant carries that name. It served as a field hospital during the Spanish Civil War, reopened as the Miramar afterwards and closed in 1967. About twenty years later it became Málaga's Palace of Justice. Hoteles Santos restored it and reopened it as a hotel at the end of 2016. Scenes of The Crown were filmed on its terraces, and the series Genius: Picasso held its world premiere here in 2018.
The 190 rooms start with 21 m² Premier rooms facing the city, the historic gardens or the domed Royal Patio. Deluxe rooms of 37 m² add a sitting area with a sofa bed and a marble bathroom with separate bath and shower; some face the sea or have a private sea-view terrace. Suites of 60 m² have separate living rooms, and the 80 m² Royal Suite has a large terrace over the Mediterranean.
The Botanic Spa by Sisley uses Sisley products and has a sauna. Outside there are two pools, one for adults and one for children, whose hours change with the season. A sun terrace and a sea-view chill-out area are reserved for guests over 16. In season the hotel sets out deckchairs on the beach about 150 m away, and Playa de la Malagueta is about 360 m from the entrance. A kids' club opens in season too.
