Halekulani Okinawa is a five-star beachfront resort at 1967-1 Nakama in Onna-son, on the west coast of Okinawa, Japan. It is the sister of Halekulani in Waikiki. The beach in front lies within a protected national park area, and every one of the 360 rooms faces the ocean. It suits couples and families who want a resort stay with several pools and a range of restaurants.
Standard rooms measure more than 50 m². Suites run from 76 m² to 294 m², and some have a private pool. Five villas with red Ryukyu tile roofs each have a heated private pool and a hot spring bath. Club guests can use a Club Lounge. All rooms and terraces are non-smoking, including e-cigarettes, and five smoking areas are set around the grounds.
The five pools are the Orchid Pool, a kids' pool, a quiet pool, an ocean terrace pool and an indoor pool. They are for overnight guests only, and body art larger than a palm must be covered at the Orchid, Kids and Indoor pools. The beach is public, but sun loungers and parasols are for hotel guests. Kibougaoka Beach is about 350 m away, Nakama Sunset Beach about 750 m and Manza Beach about 9.7 km.
SHIROUX serves innovative cuisine, AOMI Japanese food and KINGDOM steak and wine. House Without A Key covers all-day dining, SPECTRA is the sunset bar and a terrace barbecue runs outdoors. Breakfast is a buffet or set menu with Japanese and continental dishes, and in-room dining is available.
Spa Halekulani offers treatments, and there is a children's activity programme.
The resort opened in July 2019 as the second Halekulani after Waikiki. Champalimaud Design did the interiors in seven shades of white, and every room has a soaking tub facing the window. The Orchid Pool is laid with 1.5 million mosaic tiles in a cattleya orchid pattern, about twice the size of the one in Waikiki, and hosts Hawaiian and jazz music in the evening. House Without A Key is known for its coconut cake. From July to September the front desk arranges firefly walks in the forest.
