Singapore's best-known chilli crab, served at Riverside Point opposite Clarke Quay. First-time visitors come for the signature dish in a central spot near the riverside nightlife.
JUMBO Seafood Riverside Point is a chilli crab restaurant at #01-01 Riverside Point, 30 Merchant Road, on the south bank of the Singapore River opposite Clarke Quay. It suits first-time visitors who want Singapore's best-known seafood dish in a central spot close to the riverside nightlife.
Clarke Quay MRT station is a short walk away, and a footbridge links Riverside Point with the bars across the water. The restaurant spreads over two floors, and its private rooms look out on the river.
JUMBO started in 1987 at East Coast Park. The original East Coast outlet closed in September 2026, and Riverside Point is now one of six JUMBO restaurants still trading in Singapore. Of those, it is the most convenient for visitors staying in the city centre.
Crab is the reason to come. The chilli crab arrives in a sweet, spicy and eggy tomato chilli sauce, and the black pepper crab is the drier, sharper alternative. Most tables order buns, fried or steamed and often called mantou, to wipe up the chilli sauce. Golden salted egg prawns and crispy fried baby squid are the other dishes regulars add. Staff hand out bibs, and you will want one.
Crab is priced by weight and season, which makes the bill hard to predict. Ask for the current price per kilo and the size of the crab before it goes to the kitchen; a full seafood dinner for two climbs quickly once a large crab and sides are on the table.
JUMBO lists Riverside Point as open every day from 11:30 to 23:00, with last orders taken at 22:15, so a late table after a river cruise is still possible. Riverside tables in the evening are the most requested, and booking a few days ahead online, on +65 6532 3435 or by WhatsApp on +65 9819 5456 is the safest approach. After dinner, the walk across the bridge to Clarke Quay takes a couple of minutes.
The upper storey adds about 3,500 square feet and five soundproof private rooms, which makes Riverside Point a common choice for company dinners and family celebrations. If the river tables are full, JUMBO also runs Singapore branches at Dempsey Hill, ION Orchard, Jewel Changi Airport and The Riverwalk, plus JUMBO Premium at Resorts World Sentosa.
