What to expect

Nouvelair is a privately owned Tunisian airline, with its head office in Monastir, flying holidaymakers and visiting families between European cities and Tunisia's airports at Monastir, Tunis and Djerba. It suits travellers heading for a beach holiday on the Tunisian coast and people of Tunisian origin visiting relatives from France, Germany or Scandinavia.

From Air Liberte Tunisie to Nouvelair

The airline was set up in 1989 as Air Liberte Tunisie, a charter affiliate of the French airline Air Liberte, and flew its first service on 21 March 1990. It later took the Nouvelair name. For many years the businessman Aziz Miled was the majority owner, until his death in 2012. In July 2014 the shareholders were Tunisian Travel Service with 55 per cent, Sofiat with 20 per cent, Carte with 15 per cent and Marhaba Hotels with 10 per cent. The registered office is in Tunis and the head office in Monastir.

Monastir, Tunis and Djerba bases and charter roots

Monastir Habib Bourguiba International Airport, Tunis Carthage and Djerba Zarzis are the three bases. Nouvelair grew as a charter airline, flying tour operator clients from European cities to Tunisian resorts, and much of its flying is still linked to tourism. Wikipedia lists 25 destinations. The airline's website also sells seats directly on flights from airports in France, Germany, Scandinavia and other European countries, as one-way, return or multi-destination tickets.

The schedule changes a lot between summer and winter, and many routes run only in the peak holiday season.
