Siam Center stands on Rama I Road in Pathum Wan district, at the heart of the Siam shopping area. It is connected to Siam BTS station, the main interchange of the Skytrain, and sits between Siam Discovery and Siam Paragon, opposite Siam Square.

The mall opened on 29 January 1973, making it one of the earliest modern shopping centres in Bangkok. It has been renovated several times, including after a fire in 1997, and on 11 January 2013 it was relaunched under the theme Siam Center The Ideaopolis.

The mall is known for Thai fashion designers and young creative brands, as well as international streetwear and sports labels. Its floors mix fashion, accessories, beauty and gadgets, with cafes and restaurants on the upper levels. Seasonal displays and art installations change through the year.

Siam Center is linked by walkways to Siam Discovery, a neighbouring mall that opened in 1997 and was redesigned by the Japanese studio Nendo in 2016, and to Siam Paragon. Together they make it easy to move between malls without going outside.

The mall is open daily from morning until late evening, and entry is free.

Who runs Siam Center? It is developed and managed by Siam Piwat, which also operates Siam Discovery. The four-storey mall shares a building group with the 36-storey Siam Discovery and Siam Tower, and an 11-storey car park with about 1,500 spaces serves the complex. Siam Center and Siam Discovery together hold around 400 shops.
