The only resort in Laamu Atoll, reached by a domestic flight to Kadhdhoo and a short speedboat ride, with 94 over-water and beach villas. Divers, surfers and couples come for a quieter atoll and a resort certified sustainable to GSTC criteria. Villas are listed from US$1,300 a night.
Six Senses Laamu is a five-star, 94-villa resort on Olhuveli island and the only resort in the Laamu Atoll, in the south of the Maldives. Guests fly from Malé to Kadhdhoo Airport, about 13 km away, then take a short speedboat ride. The resort is certified sustainable to GSTC criteria. Divers, surfers and couples who want a quieter atoll stay here.
Over-water villas line the lagoon, and beach villas sit among the island's trees. Ocean Beach Villas with a pool measure about 238 m², and two-bedroom Ocean Beach Villas reach about 730 m². Villas have a king bed or twin beds, a bathtub, a separate shower and a minibar, and many face the ocean.
Most of the social life happens in an over-water building that holds two restaurants, a wine cellar, the signature bar, an ice-cream parlour, the dive centre and a boutique. Longitude serves Asian, grill and seafood dishes. A café, a beach bar and room service add more choice. Breakfast is a buffet with American and full English options, and costs about USD 30 per adult when not included.
Six Senses Laamu is known for its conservation work. SHELL, the Sea Hub for Environmental Learning in Laamu, is a marine research centre on the island that hosts resident conservation groups under the Maldives Underwater Initiative. The Manta Trust has identified more than 150 individual manta rays in the atoll, and the Olive Ridley Project leads the sea turtle work. During the 2024 global bleaching event the team released three million lab-grown coral larvae onto damaged reefs, and its seagrass studies have recorded species not documented before. Guests can tour the labs, join conservation activities and dive with the marine biologists, including manta and reef specialty courses. TIME named the resort one of the World's Greatest Places of 2026.
The dive centre runs diving and snorkelling trips in the atoll, and surfing, sailing and kayaking are on offer too. The Six Senses Spa, a gym, yoga sessions and an outdoor pool cover wellness. Bicycles are free to use.
The kids' club and playground are open to families, and childcare costs extra.
