Of the 402 rooms, 55 are suites. Rooms have king or twin beds, a large work desk and local artwork, and some have private balconies, with views of the city, garden or sea. The Büyük Efes Convention Center divides into 19 meeting rooms, and it also has an exhibition hall and a grand ballroom.

Büyük Efes opened in 1964 as the first luxury hotel in Izmir and soon became a meeting place for Turkish artists and public figures. After a two-year renovation it reopened in 2008 under the Swissôtel name. The grounds cover about 12,000 sqm of gardens, with a hidden play park for children. One original feature survives: a restaurant whose windows look into the swimming pool like an aquarium. Scappi occupies the top floor and serves Mediterranean and Italian dishes with views over the city and the Aegean, and a poolside bar serves Turkish meze and grills in summer.
