A 45-room hotel in the middle of Bath's Georgian Royal Crescent, overlooking Royal Victoria Park, with a walled garden and a spa in a Georgian bath house. Couples and dog owners come for the quiet setting a short walk above town, and Montagu's Mews holds three AA Rosettes. Rooms from US$560.
The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa is a five-star, 45-room hotel at 16 Royal Crescent in Bath, England, in the middle of the Georgian terrace that overlooks Royal Victoria Park. It suits couples, dog owners and anyone who wants a quiet garden setting a short walk above the city centre.
John Wood the Younger designed the Royal Crescent, a curve of 30 Georgian houses built between 1767 and 1774 and now Grade I listed. Each original buyer put up their own house behind the shared Ionic facade, so the backs differ while the front is uniform. The hotel fills numbers 15 and 16. In front, a ha-ha separates the private lawn from Royal Victoria Park without blocking the view.
No. 1 Royal Crescent, the museum house at the end of the terrace, is about 150 m away. The Jane Austen Centre is around 600 m, and the Roman Baths and Bath Abbey are about 1 km downhill. Bath city centre is roughly five minutes on foot. Bath Spa railway station is about 1.6 km, around seven minutes by taxi, and Bristol Airport is about 32 km away.
Behind the listed facade, the 45 rooms and suites are set around a long walled garden. Classic and Heritage rooms lead on to Deluxe Heritage rooms, junior suites, deluxe and master suites (some with four-poster beds) and the Garden Villa. Every room has free Wi-Fi, a TV, air conditioning, tea and coffee making, bottled water, bathrobes, slippers and Jo Loves bath products. Dog-friendly rooms come with food and water bowls and take up to two dogs or cats; request one in advance, as a pet fee and deposit apply.
The hotel restaurant holds three AA Rosettes and serves breakfast, lunch, à la carte dinner and afternoon tea. There is a bar, a terrace used in warm weather and live jazz on alternate Wednesdays. Breakfast is a buffet.
The spa occupies a Georgian bath house in the garden and has a pool, treatments and spa days. Guests under 16 cannot use the spa, pool or health club; babysitting can be booked at extra cost.
