In short

City Center Doha, opened in 2001 among the West Bay towers, was one of Qatar's first big modern malls, with several hundred shops, a hypermarket, a cinema and a food court under a glass atrium. Entry is free. It opens 10:00 to 22:00 early in the week and until midnight Thursday to Saturday, with a Friday prayer break. Shoppers spend two to three hours.

City Center Doha stands in West Bay, the business district of towers on the northern side of Doha Bay. It opened in 2001 and was one of the first large modern shopping malls in Qatar, built when West Bay was still being developed as the new commercial centre of the capital.

The mall spreads over several floors under a long glass-roofed atrium, and it is linked to hotel and office towers on the same site. Its size and central position made it a meeting place for residents of the surrounding towers and for office workers during the week.

Inside are several hundred shops, ranging from international fashion chains and electronics stores to local perfume and abaya boutiques. A large hypermarket occupies part of the ground level. The upper floors hold a multiplex cinema, a family entertainment area with rides and games, and a food court with Arabic, Asian and Western outlets. Cafes and sit-down restaurants line the main walkways.

Because it sits in the middle of West Bay, the mall is a short ride from the Corniche, Sheraton Park and the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center. The DECC station on the Doha Metro Red Line serves the area.

Entry is free. The mall opens daily from morning until late evening, with longer hours at weekends and during Ramadan and Eid, when schedules change. Weekday mornings are the quietest time to visit.

Ice rink, bowling and the hotel next door

Beyond shopping, City Center has long been known among Doha families for its indoor ice rink and a 12-lane bowling alley, along with the cinema and games area. The ice rink offers public skating sessions and lessons, a welcome change from the heat outside in summer.

City Centre Rotana Doha, part of the same development, opened with 287 rooms and suites plus 94 serviced apartments, and later counts list 381 rooms across 47 floors. Its direct link into the mall makes it a practical base for business travellers attending events at the nearby Doha Exhibition and Convention Center. Parking is available in multi-storey car parks around the mall, though spaces fill on Thursday and Friday evenings, when the Metro is the easier option.
