What to expect

Corendon Airlines is a Turkish leisure airline headquartered in Antalya, with hubs at Antalya Airport and İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport and a further base at Ankara Esenboğa. It suits holidaymakers flying between European cities and the Turkish coast, and travellers booking Greek, Spanish or North African resorts on a low-frills ticket. Founded in November 2004 and flying since April 2005, it belongs to the Corendon Tourism Group.

A holiday network

Corendon lists more than 140 destinations across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. Most flights link Turkish resort airports with cities in Germany, Austria, the United Kingdom and other European countries, and the airline also flies to Greece, Spain, Egypt and Morocco. Many routes run only in the summer season, so check the schedule for your travel month. A charter link between Perm in Russia and Antalya, announced in May 2024, has ended.

The Corendon group of airlines

Corendon Airlines is one of three airlines in the group. Corendon Dutch Airlines was set up in the Netherlands in 2011, and Corendon Airlines Europe was founded in Malta in 2017. All three sell under the Corendon brand, so the operating airline on your booking may be a sister company. Yildiray Karaer is chief executive and Atilay Uslu is chairman. In 2023 the Turkish airline reported revenue of 535.78 million US dollars and employed 1,283 people.

Fares: Lite, Eco, Comfort and Premium

Corendon sells four branded fares. They differ in baggage, seat selection, meals and change rules. The Lite fare does not include checked baggage, so a Lite ticket plus a bag bought later can cost more than Eco. Seats can be bought on the airline's website or through tour operators as part of a package; a package booking follows the tour operator's conditions. The website does not list a frequent flyer programme.

TUI codeshare and Hahn Air interline

Corendon is not part of a global alliance. It codeshares with TUI Airways and has an interline agreement with Hahn Air.

The 2012 fire on flight 733 in Antalya

On 14 October 2012 Corendon flight 733, a Boeing 737-800 due to fly from Antalya to Trondheim, was destroyed by fire during pushback. Twenty-seven passengers were hurt in the evacuation, and the cause was traced to a short circuit in the captain's cockpit panel. On 2 October 2010 a Corendon 737-400 arriving from Dalaman overran a runway at Amsterdam Schiphol and stopped with its nose gear in mud.

A long-haul Corendon trip and a short hop can come with different allowances, and every cabin above the lowest economy fare gets more. The baggage page on corendonairlines.com shows the rule for your route.

Pro tip: weigh your bags at home before leaving for the airport; extra weight on Corendon usually costs more at the counter than when you add it online.

Online Check-in

Getting through check-in for Corendon is simpler in this order. Start online and finish at bag drop. Online check-in on corendonairlines.com opens 72 hours before departure and closes five hours before. That early closing time catches some travellers out, so check in as soon as the window opens, especially on a return flight booked during a holiday.

  1. Step 1

    Check in online

Where your flight allows it, check in on corendonairlines.com with your surname and booking reference or e-ticket number.

  2. Step 2

    Prepare your documents

Before leaving for the airport, check that your passport is valid and that you hold any visa or entry document needed at the other end of your Corendon flight. Domestic XC passengers should bring a photo ID the airline accepts.

  3. Step 3

    Arrive early

Corendon closes its check-in counters before departure, and passengers who miss the cut-off can be refused boarding. Leave room for bag drop and security at AYT.

  4. Step 4

    Drop your bags

Hand in checked luggage at the Corendon counter or bag drop, then keep your boarding pass and passport ready for security and the gate.

    Avoid peak holiday dates

  3. 03

Price the bundle, not the base fare

The lowest XC fare is not always the cheapest trip once bags and seats are added. Compare the fare types before you pay.

  4. 04

    Book busy Corendon routes early

On busy Corendon routes such as AYT to Vienna, booking several weeks ahead usually leaves more fares to choose from.
