Lamb machboos
Modern take on the spiced Emirati rice dish
The first Emirati restaurant to earn a MICHELIN star, beside Qasr Al Hosn in central Abu Dhabi. Lamb machboos is the dish most people order, and it suits visitors who want to taste the country's own cooking, with a terrace option.
Erth is a one-star MICHELIN modern Emirati restaurant in the Al Hosn Cultural District of central Abu Dhabi, beside Qasr Al Hosn, the 18th-century fort that is now a museum. It was the first Emirati restaurant to earn a Michelin star and suits visitors who want to taste the country's own cooking.
Erth means legacy. The restaurant is a low Brutalist building reflected in a shallow pool and ringed by palms. Inside are floor-to-ceiling windows, polished concrete, stone from Jebel Hafeet, local ceramics and private majlis areas screened with pale cotton. Outdoor tables are also available. Taxis drop guests at the underground car park behind the restaurant, and signs lead the way from there; the car park closes at midnight.
He reworks Emirati tradition using produce from around 90 farms in the country. Dishes noted by Michelin inspectors include braised lamb machboos with spiced rice, chickpea purée with crisp regag bread and Liwa date batheeta for dessert. Luqaimat with date syrup and Arabic coffee is a common way to finish. Erth kept its star in the Abu Dhabi guide announced in October 2025.
Prices are at the upper end for Abu Dhabi. Qasr Al Hosn and the Cultural Foundation are a short walk away, so an early arrival leaves time to see the fort grounds.
