Everyday shopping
A convenient, smaller mall popular with residents for fashion and groceries.
Landmark Mall, opened in 2000 on Al Shamal Road in Al Gharrafa, is one of Doha's older modern malls and is anchored by a Carrefour hypermarket. Entry is free. Shops usually trade 10 AM to 10 PM, later on Thursdays and Fridays, and pause for about 90 minutes at Friday prayers. One to two hours covers a shopping stop.
Landmark Mall is a mid-sized, three-floor shopping mall on Al Shamal Road in Al Gharrafa, Al Rayyan, about 15 minutes from central Doha. Opened in 2000 as one of Qatar's first modern malls, it has around 200 outlets anchored by a Carrefour hypermarket, and it suits residents and visitors who want a quick, practical shop in a calmer setting than the giant malls.
The Business Trading Company developed the mall. It opened with about 30,000 square metres of space, added about 10,000 square metres in 2005 and a further 18,000 square metres in 2007 and 2008, reaching about 58,000 square metres. When it opened, the area around it was far less built up; today it sits inside a residential district, and its position on the main road north makes it a convenient stop for people living in the northern and western suburbs.
The large Carrefour hypermarket brings in many residents for their weekly groceries, household goods and electronics. Around it are international fashion brands, electronics, beauty and homeware shops, a food court, cafés and casual restaurants. Tenants change over time, so check the mall's directory on landmarkdoha.com for a particular brand.
For younger children, Circus Land is an indoor amusement area with rides and arcade games, paid separately. The food court has family-friendly restaurants, and there are prayer rooms, ATMs and restrooms.
The building takes its look from traditional Qatari forts, with stylised turrets and a fort-like façade along Al Shamal Road. Circus Land, the children's area, has a carousel, bumper cars and a soft play zone with its own small food court. The mall also offers free Wi-Fi, beauty salons and, alongside casual chains, a few more upscale restaurants and regional cafés.
