Ultra Europe guide

Three summer nights by the Adriatic in Split.

In short

Ultra Europe suits electronic music fans who want a festival and a Croatian summer holiday in one trip. The 2027 edition runs over three nights, 9 to 11 July, at Park Mladeži in Split. Entry is 18 and over. Book accommodation early and leave time for ferries to Hvar, Brač or Vis.

Ultra Europe is the Croatian edition of Miami's Ultra Music Festival, held each July in Split on the Dalmatian coast. Founded by Joe Bašić, it launched in 2013 at Poljud Stadium and has been staged at Park Mladeži, the city's athletics stadium and park, since 2019.

The festival runs over three nights from sunset towards sunrise, with headline electronic acts on the main stage and techno under the RESISTANCE banner. Around 150,000 people attended the 2024 edition, many of them travelling from abroad.

What sets it apart is the setting. Split's old town, built around Diocletian's Palace, is a short walk away, and ferries from the harbour reach Hvar, Brač and Vis, where Ultra has staged beach parties and closing events over the years.

Buying tickets and booking accommodation in Split

Tickets for Ultra Europe are sold through ultraeurope.com, with general admission, VIP and Fan Pit options. July is peak season on the Dalmatian coast, so book your bed as soon as you have tickets; Split's hotels and apartments fill early around the festival.

Leave a few days either side if you can. Ferries and catamarans from the Port of Split reach Brač, Hvar, Šolta and Vis, and Ultra-branded beach and closing parties have run on the islands in past years. Our Split travel guide and Croatia page cover the rest of the trip.

From Poljud Stadium to Park Mladeži

The first Ultra Europe took place on 12 and 13 July 2013 at Poljud Stadium, followed by a beach party on Hvar, and drew about 103,000 people. In 2014 it grew to three days, with around 150,000 visitors across Split and Hvar.

In 2015 it became the centrepiece of Destination Ultra, a week of events across the islands. The festival moved to Park Mladeži in 2019, and in 2022 its island programme shifted to the Pakleni Islands off Hvar. Croatia's Ministry of Tourism regards it as strategically important for the country's tourism.

Getting there

Flying in

Split Airport is about 20 km from the city, at Kaštela.

By sea

The Port of Split connects to Brač, Hvar, Šolta, Vis and further islands, mainly with Jadrolinija, and to Ancona in Italy.

In the city

Park Mladeži is within walking distance of central Split for most visitors; taxis are busy at closing time.

Where to stay during the festival

Most festival-goers stay in Split itself, in hotels or private apartments within walking distance of Park Mladeži and the old town. Rooms fill quickly in July, so book early.

Some visitors base themselves on Hvar or Brač and come over by boat, but check the last crossing times, as the music runs well past the final ferry.

Weather and what to pack

Split's Marjan Hill station, 1991-2020 normals, gives July an average high of 31.0°C and a low of 22.8°C, with about 25 mm of rain over five days and around 359 hours of sunshine. The sea averages about 23°C.

July is Split's driest month. Nights stay warm, though summer storms can arrive suddenly, as in 2016.

Worth packing

  • Light breathable clothing
  • Comfortable shoes for standing all night
  • Sunscreen and sunglasses for daytime
  • Swimwear for beaches and boat trips
  • Passport or national ID card
  • A small power bank
