Abu Dhabi's palace hotel at the western end of the Corniche, built as a state guesthouse. Families come for about 1.3 km of private beach, pools with slides and a lazy river, and the Kids' Palace club; around 12 restaurants and lounges cover dining. Rooms start from US$500 a night.
Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental is a five-star palace hotel on West Corniche Road at the western end of the Abu Dhabi Corniche, United Arab Emirates. Built as a state guesthouse, it still hosts official occasions, and its private beach, family pools and kids' club make it popular with families, couples and conference guests visiting the capital.
The hotel sits in about 85 hectares of landscaped gardens with roughly 1.3 km of private beach. Etihad Towers is 500 m away. The Landmark tower is 4.3 km, and the Corniche and Qasr Al Hosn are each about 4.4 km. Al Wahda Mall is 5.7 km, Abu Dhabi Mall 7.7 km and Zayed Port 9.4 km. Zayed International Airport (AUH) is the nearest airport, roughly 35 km away by road.
There are 394 rooms and suites, with views of the gardens, the sea or the city. Deluxe rooms measure about 55 sqm and have a balcony or terrace. Family Deluxe rooms join a king room and a twin room into about 110 sqm. Suites start at 110 sqm and rise to multi-bedroom Palace Suites.
Two large outdoor pools serve the resort. One is an adventure pool with slides and a lazy river, and there is a separate children's pool. Water sports run from the beach, and the hotel has tennis courts, a spa and a gym. The Kids' Palace club takes children from 10 months to 12 years, daily from 08:00 to 18:00, with hourly, half-day and full-day sessions charged.
About a dozen restaurants and lounges operate inside the palace. Talea by Antonio Guida serves Italian food and Hakkasan serves Cantonese. Breakfast is a Continental buffet.
Emirates Palace opened in early 2005, in time to host a GCC summit, and was reported at the time to have cost about US$3 billion. The interiors use more than 26 km of 22-carat gold leaf, and the 394 rooms include 92 suites plus 22 residential suites set aside for heads of state. Mandarin Oriental took over management in 2020. Since then the hotel has kept its place as the city's venue for summits, film festivals and big concerts, and it hosted the awards ceremony for the MICHELIN Guide Abu Dhabi 2026. Qasr Al Watan, the presidential palace that opens to visitors, is a short drive along the coast.
