Hiron Point (Nilkamal) is a Forest Department station on the west bank of the Kunga River near the Bay of Bengal, inside the wildlife sanctuary of the southern Sundarbans, Khulna District, Bangladesh. Reachable only by boat on organised tours, it suits travellers on multi-day Sundarbans cruises hoping to see deer and, rarely, a tiger.
Hiron means deer in Bengali, after the herds of spotted deer near the forest office. The Forest Department lists it among its main visitor spots and as a good place to look for tigers and rare wildlife.
Travel accounts report wild boar, monkeys, crocodiles and many birds as well as deer. Tigers live here but are seldom seen; guides listen for alarm calls from deer and monkeys as a sign a predator is near.
