In short

Japanese-Peruvian Nikkei cooking in Jeddah's Leylaty venue, ranked No. 6 on MENA's 50 Best Restaurants 2026 and named best in Saudi Arabia. Black cod criollo, sushi, ceviche and Red Sea seafood make it a special night out, with counter seats and a bar.

Kuuru is a Nikkei (Japanese-Peruvian) restaurant in the Leylaty venue on Al Malik Road, Al Khalidiyyah, Jeddah. It ranked No. 6 on MENA's 50 Best Restaurants 2026 and was named Best Restaurant in Saudi Arabia, and it suits diners who want sushi, ceviche and Red Sea seafood for a special night out.

Japanese-Peruvian cooking with Red Sea fish

Nikkei grew out of Japanese migration to Peru, and Kuuru blends the two kitchens with Red Sea fish. Chefs Eddie Castro and Kenji Sarco lead the kitchen for the Leylaty Group. Dishes are sharing plates: wagyu tataki with rocoto jam, avocado and yuzu truffle dressing; a ceviche platter and nigiri selection; tuna toast; crispy shrimp with spicy passion fruit sauce; and black cod with yuzu teriyaki. A mocktail bar handles drinks.

The sushi counter and main dining room

The dining room uses warm wood with blue accents around a central live cooking station. The sushi counter gives the closest view of the chefs at work. Prices are at the top end for Jeddah.

Kuuru's place in MENA's 50 Best 2026

On 3 February 2026, at the MENA's 50 Best Restaurants ceremony in Abu Dhabi, Kuuru placed No. 6 and took the title of Best Restaurant in Saudi Arabia. The wagyu tataki is listed on the menu as niku panca, and the crispy shrimp, called shrimp crocante, comes with roasted almonds as well as the passion fruit sauce. For a first visit, the ceviche platter, a nigiri selection and the black cod give a good spread across the Japanese and Peruvian sides of the kitchen.
