Jason Atherton's rooftop on the mirror-clad Maraya concert hall in AlUla, serving Mediterranean, Arabian and British sharing plates at fine-dining prices. Adults book it for sunset dinners between mid-September and May; it is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Maraya Social is British chef Jason Atherton's rooftop restaurant on Maraya, the mirror-clad concert hall in AlUla's Ashar Valley. It serves sharing plates that mix Mediterranean, Arabian and British cooking, and suits adult visitors to AlUla planning a sunset dinner between mid-September and May.
Maraya's mirrored walls reflect the desert and sandstone cliffs, and the restaurant's terrace on top has a 360-degree view of the valley as it turns gold and amber at sunset. It is Atherton's first restaurant in Saudi Arabia, and Gault&Millau Saudi Arabia scores it 14/20. Most guests drive or take a taxi from AlUla's resorts or the old town, 20 to 30 minutes away depending on where you stay.
Dishes use local and regional produce and are designed for sharing. Recent plates include AlUla citrus-cured salmon, aged beef tartare, wood-fired prawns, grilled aged Angus striploin, AlUla orange crème brûlée and pistachio and honey cake. In 2026 starters ran about SAR 110 to 120 and mains about SAR 175 to 230. Only non-alcoholic drinks are served, and the bar makes mocktails.
