Mall of Istanbul, or MOİ, is a large mixed-use complex in Başakşehir on the European side, about 20 km north-west of the historic peninsula, opened in 2014. It lists around 470 stores, plus an indoor theme park, an IMAX cinema and a theatre stage, alongside offices, homes and a Hilton hotel. Entry to the mall is free.
Mall of Istanbul, often shortened to MOİ, stands in the Başakşehir district on the European side of Istanbul, close to the TEM motorway and about 20 kilometres north west of the historic peninsula. It is the centrepiece of a mixed-use development that also includes offices, residences and a Hilton hotel that opened in 2020.
The complex opened on 23 May 2014 with roughly 350 shops, and the mall listed around 470 stores as of 2026. Its gross leasable area of about 154,000 square metres places it among the largest shopping malls in Turkey, and several Turkish and international brands opened their first or largest local stores here.
Beyond shopping, the mall has an indoor amusement park, MOİPark, with rides for children and families, a fifteen-screen cinema with an IMAX hall, and MOİ Sahne, a theatre seating around 700 people for concerts and shows. There is also an illusion and toy museum, a gourmet food area, terraced gardens and a large food court with Turkish and international chains.
Fashion, electronics, home goods and sports stores fill several floors, and a hypermarket covers everyday shopping. Large car parks make the mall convenient for drivers, and buses and metrobus connections link it to other parts of the city.
The mall is open daily from morning until late evening, and entry is free. Rides in MOİPark and cinema tickets are paid separately.
The shopping mall is only part of a larger scheme. The whole mixed-use development covers about 350,000 square metres, with offices and the 175-room Hilton hotel sitting beside the retail floors. The site is in the İkitelli organised industrial zone area of Başakşehir, so it serves residents of the fast-growing north-western suburbs more than visitors staying in Sultanahmet.
Getting there by public transport is easiest on the M9 metro line: MASKO station is the closest stop. From the old city, allow around an hour each way with changes, which makes the mall a half-day trip at most.
We check practical details such as entry rules, seasons and costs against official government and tourism sources.
