Board Concorde
Step inside Concorde and the A300B.
Beside Toulouse-Blagnac airport, Aeroscopia has shown some two dozen aircraft since 2015, and visitors can walk through both an Airbus A380 and a Concorde. Tickets start from about €12, and under-sixes go free. Listed hours are 9:30 AM to 6 PM daily, taken from an older source, so confirm before travelling. Aviation fans and families should plan two to three hours.
Aeroscopia is the aviation museum of the Toulouse region, on Allée André Turcat in Blagnac, next to Toulouse-Blagnac Airport and the Airbus assembly lines. It shows aircraft from Concorde to the A380 and suits aviation fans, families and anyone combining a museum visit with an Airbus factory tour.
The museum was inaugurated on 13 January 2015 and received its first visitors the next day. At opening it showed 25 aircraft and more than 30 scale models, many restored by volunteer associations such as Ailes Anciennes Toulouse, which keeps its own collection next door.
The main hall is 100 metres long, 72 metres wide and 23 metres high, giving about 8,000 square metres under one roof. A further 5,000 square metres of open-air display surrounds it, and a separate tarmac of around two hectares to the north holds the largest aircraft.
Two Concordes recall that the supersonic airliner was assembled in Toulouse. F-BVFC, in Air France colours, stands outside, while the pre-series F-WTSB, which once carried French presidents, is indoors and can be visited.
The Airbus story is told through several aircraft, including the A300B4 F-WUAB, painted in the colours of the first prototype and open inside, and A320 and A340 aircraft. On the north tarmac an A380 can be entered by glazed walkways that reach both decks. A Super Guppy, the bulbous transport plane once used to carry Airbus sections between factories, is another highlight, alongside older aircraft, engines and cockpit sections and displays on Toulouse's aviation pioneers.
