Naturist beach
The 2 km beach is the heart of the quarter; nudity is the norm.
Cap d'Agde's naturist beach runs for about 2 km in front of a fenced naturist quarter on the Hérault coast, with its own marina, shops and accommodation; nudity is the norm throughout. From late March to mid-October entry needs an access badge from the reception on the Rond-point du Bagnas, with a yearly fee and no 2026 price list published. Adult naturists stay half a day to several days.
The Cap d'Agde naturist beach is a long, wide beach of about 2 km in front of the fenced naturist quarter on the eastern side of Cap d'Agde, in the commune of Agde, Hérault, on the Mediterranean coast of Occitanie. Nudity is the norm on the sand and throughout the quarter, which holds a marina, a hotel, shops and restaurants. It suits adult naturists; families should read the notes below.
The naturist quarter grew from the family land of René and Paul Oltra, who worked their parents' vineyard by the sea in the early 1950s. In the evenings they swam naked and noticed more and more bathers, many of them German, doing the same, and in the mid-1950s they opened a naturist campsite that still bears René Oltra's name. The beach was officially designated naturist in 1973. Apartment complexes, shops and pools followed around the port, including Port Nature and the Héliopolis residences close to the beach.
The beach is about 30 metres wide. It holds the Blue Flag and the Destination Handicap label, with a Tiralo beach wheelchair and a boardwalk at Port Nature. In 2026 lifeguards worked from 11:00 to 18:30 at Héliopolis from 4 July to 30 August, and at Port Nature on spring weekends from late May and every day from 13 June to 6 September, plus weekends in mid-September. The water ranges from about 16 to 22°C over the season.
The resort's rules forbid filming and photography on the beach and in public areas; respect this strictly. The quarter has a reputation for adult nightlife, and the French naturist federation is reported to have withdrawn its support for the resort. Families looking for a strictly family naturist setting often choose other sites on the French coast.
