In short

Toulon's town beaches at Le Mourillon are a row of sandy coves protected by breakwaters, with gardens behind, a large free car park and Blue Flag sections, which makes them easy for families. Entry is free at all hours, and dogs on a lead are limited to the Promenade Henri-Fabre at set times. Plan half a day.

The Plages du Mourillon are a set of sandy coves in Le Mourillon, a seaside district about 2 km east of central Toulon in the Var. Breakwaters keep the water calm, landscaped gardens give shade behind the sand, and two coves hold the Blue Flag, so the beaches suit families and city visitors who want a swim without leaving Toulon.

Four or five coves from Fort Saint-Louis to the Yacht Club

The beaches run from Fort Saint-Louis to the Yacht Club. Sources count four or five named coves, among them the Anse du Lido near the fort, the Anse du Mistral, the Anse de la Source and the Anse Tabarly at the eastern end. According to the ProvenceMed tourist office, the waterfront has 7 hectares of sand and 9 hectares of landscaped gardens. The Mistral and Lido coves carry the Blue Flag, and the Source and Lido coves hold the Tourisme et Handicap label.

The Anse Tabarly is different. Swimming and diving are not allowed there, including from its pontoon, and it holds a nautical zone and a dog bathing area. The city launched a redevelopment of the cove and its nautical base in 2024.

Showers, first aid and the nautical base's kayaks and dinghies

Along the shore are bars and restaurants, play and fitness areas, a picnic area, showers, a first-aid post and a police post. The nautical base runs sailing, sea kayaking, canoeing and rowing, and there is mini golf and beach volleyball. Contact the base directly about courses and minimum ages.
