The mall opened on 11 October 2011 as the first branch of the Terminal 21 chain, which later added malls in Korat (opened early 2017), Pattaya (2018) and on Rama III Road in Bangkok (2022). The number 21 refers to Sukhumvit Soi 21, also called Asok Montri Road, beside the site.

The concept is an airport terminal. Signs look like departure boards, and each floor is themed after a different city, such as Rome, Paris, Tokyo, London, Istanbul and San Francisco, with decoration and props to match, including a large model of the Golden Gate Bridge.
