In short

Safari World, opened in 1988 in Khlong Sam Wa on Bangkok's north-eastern edge, pairs a drive-through Safari Park of about 8 km with a walk-around Marine Park of animal shows. Foreign visitor prices are not published and change with promotions, so check the official site. It opens 9:00 to 16:00 on weekdays and to 17:00 at weekends, closed Mondays. Plan a full day.

The park opened on 17 February 1988 in Khlong Sam Wa district, far out from central Bangkok. It is divided into two sections, a drive through Safari Park and a walk around Marine Park. The operating company was delisted from the Stock Exchange of Thailand in May 2025.

The Safari Park is a route of about 8 kilometres that takes roughly 50 minutes, through open land designed to look like savannah. Giraffes, zebras, rhinoceroses, camels, deer and antelope roam here, with separate zones for lions, tigers and bears. Visitors stay inside their own vehicle or a park bus throughout.

Marine Park holds most of the shows, aviaries and walk through exhibits, with animals including kangaroos, cassowaries, hornbills, manatees, tapirs and Siamese crocodiles, and paddle boats on a lake. The daily programme has featured dolphin, sea lion, bird and elephant shows, a cowboy stunt show and a spy themed action show.

The big cat enclosures have been closed since September 2025. Some visitors choose to skip the animal performances.

Tickets cover one or both sections and are sold at the gate, online and through tour agents, often bundled with transfers. Plan a full day and arrive at opening time to fit in the shows. There is no rail link, and taxis are hard to find at closing time, so arrange the return journey in advance.

About 500 rai of open zoo and Marine Park

The open zoo and Marine Park together cover about 500 rai, around 200 acres, after a renovation of the original grounds. When it first opened, the open zoo alone was planned on 480 acres with a separate bird park of 180 acres.

Herds are large. The park keeps a Masai giraffe herd of more than 200 animals, and some herbivore groups reach 100 of a single species, so the drive through section feels busier than a conventional zoo. Marine Park adds more than 100 aviaries for smaller birds and a Jungle Cruise boat ride alongside the show arenas.

The operating company took the name Safari World Public Company Limited in February 1994 and traded on the Stock Exchange of Thailand under the ticker SAFARI until its delisting took effect on 24 May 2025.

Check the show times on the daily schedule when you arrive. Food inside is sold at park prices. Families who want to avoid the animal performances can spend more time in the aviaries and on the safari drive, which is unaffected by the show schedule.
