In short

A glass dining room 5.8 metres below the lagoon at adults-only Hurawalhi in Lhaviyani Atoll, serving seasonal tasting menus at lunch and dinner. It is a small, quiet fine-dining room for couples.

5.8 Undersea Restaurant is a glass dining room 5.8 metres below the lagoon at Hurawalhi Island Resort, an adults-only resort in Lhaviyani Atoll in the northern Maldives. It serves seasonal tasting menus at lunch and dinner and suits couples who want an underwater meal in a small, quiet room.

The name is the depth. Diners walk down the resort jetty and take a spiral staircase into the glass room on the reef, which Hurawalhi has promoted as the largest all-glass undersea restaurant in the world. It holds no more than about ten couples. The room is barefoot, with shoes left at the entrance, and dress is smart casual.

Lunch is a five-course tasting menu and dinner runs to seven courses. Seafood, meat and vegan menus are offered, and the courses change with the season and supply. One published review described a lunch of tuna tartare, seared scallop and red mullet, followed by a choice of Canadian lobster or wagyu tenderloin, then mango cheesecake.

There are three sittings a day. Lunch is served at 12:00 and 14:00, and dinner at 18:00. Hurawalhi lists these sitting times on its own dining page. A June 2026 Maldives Magazine guide prices lunch at US$250 and dinner at US$315 per person, food only, with wine pairing extra (older reviews quoted US$225 and US$280); check the current rate when booking, since it is an extra-charge restaurant even for resort guests.

Hurawalhi is reached by seaplane from Velana International Airport near Malé. The resort admits guests aged 15 and over. Guests staying at other resorts can dine here, but they pay for transfers and should contact Hurawalhi directly about availability.

The room is small and fills early, so book a table at the same time as the resort. Lunch gives the best natural light through the glass, and the 12:00 sitting catches the sun at its highest.
