What to expect

Condor is a German leisure airline headquartered in Frankfurt, flying scheduled and charter services to holiday destinations from Germany and Zurich. It suits holidaymakers heading to the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands and long-haul beach and city destinations in the Americas, Africa and Asia. Founded on 21 December 1955 as Deutsche Flugdienst, it flew its first tourist flight on 29 March 1956.

Condor's German bases and where it flies

Frankfurt is the main base and the starting point for most long-haul flights. Other bases are Berlin Brandenburg, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Munich, Stuttgart and Zurich, with Münster/Osnabrück added from 2 November 2026. The network has 94 destinations. Medium-haul flights serve Mediterranean resorts and the Canary Islands, and long-haul flights reach North America, the Caribbean, South America, Africa and Asia.

North American routes Condor dropped for 2025

For years Condor relied on a feeder agreement that let passengers connect from Lufthansa flights to Condor's long-haul services. That agreement ended in 2024, and Condor dropped several North American routes for 2025, including San Antonio, Baltimore, Minneapolis, Phoenix, Edmonton and Halifax. Check the current schedule before planning a trip to a smaller North American city.

Fare bundles, the Condor Card and earning miles

Condor does not run a classic miles programme. It sells 12-month Condor Cards, in Activity and Family versions, that give extra benefits on Condor flights. Passengers can earn miles with partners such as Alaska Airlines' Atmos Rewards and Emirates Skywards. Fares are sold in bundles, so compare what each includes before booking.

Codeshare partners for connections beyond Condor's network

Condor is not in a global alliance. It has codeshare and interline agreements with airlines including Alaska Airlines, JetBlue, WestJet, Emirates, Lufthansa and Copa Airlines, which carry passengers beyond its own network.

Condor's history from Lufthansa to Thomas Cook and Attestor

Condor began as part of the Lufthansa world. Thomas Cook companies bought Lufthansa's shares from 2000, and for a time the airline flew as Thomas Cook powered by Condor. When Thomas Cook collapsed in 2019 the German government gave Condor a bridging loan, and a planned sale to Polish Aviation Group in 2020 fell through. Attestor Capital now owns 51 percent, and SG Luftfahrtgesellschaft, a German government vehicle, owns 49 percent.

In 2022 Condor dropped the Thomas Cook look for a striped livery in yellow, red, blue, green and beige alternating with white, so aircraft come in five colour versions.

Frequent flyer programme

Condor does not run a traditional mileage programme. It sells 12-month Condor Cards (Activity Card and Family Card) with benefits such as priority boarding, free seat reservations and fare discounts, and eligible flights can earn miles with partners such as Alaska Airlines’ Atmos Rewards and Emirates Skywards.

Baggage allowance

Condor does not give every passenger the same allowance: the route, the cabin and the fare you buy each change it. Your DE e-ticket shows what you have.

Cabin bag only

Condor sets one allowance for short-haul and another for long-haul, and its premium cabins always carry more than the cheapest economy fare. Check the route-by-route figures on condor.com.

Pro tip: weigh your bags at home before leaving for the airport; extra weight on Condor usually costs more at the counter than when you add it online.

Look at the next Condor fare up: if it bundles a hold bag or easier changes, it may beat the basic fare plus extras.
