Mall of Qatar is one of the country's biggest shopping centres, in Rawdat Al Jahhaniya on Doha's western edge beside Ahmad bin Ali Stadium and Al Riffa metro station. Entry is free. It opens 10:00 to 22:00 for most of the week, until midnight on Thursdays and Fridays (from 13:00 on Friday). Shops pause for Friday prayers. Families typically spend two to four hours.
Mall of Qatar is one of Qatar's largest shopping malls, in Rawdat Al Jahhaniya, Al Rayyan, on the western edge of greater Doha, beside Ahmad bin Ali Stadium and linked to Al Riffa station on the Doha Metro Green Line. Entry is free, and it suits families, football fans on match days and travellers heading west towards Al-Shahaniya and the Dukhan Highway.
The opening date moved more than once. A soft opening took place on 10 December 2016, close to Qatar's National Day, with around 220 stores trading and about 100,000 people visiting in the first days. The official grand opening followed on 8 April 2017 under the patronage of the Father Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and the mall reported more than 150,000 visitors that day. Reports at the time described it as a USD 1.5 billion development with space for about 520 stores.
Shops cover fashion, sportswear, electronics, homeware and beauty, alongside a Carrefour hypermarket, a food court, restaurants and cafés across several levels. The central atrium, the Oasis, hosts stage shows, live performances and seasonal events. A cinema and family entertainment areas add rides and games, paid separately. Tenants change, so check the directory for a particular brand.
The stadium beside the mall hosted matches at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and is the home ground of Al Rayyan Sports Club. On match days the area fills up and the mall becomes a meeting point before and after games, so expect crowds and busy car parks.
The mall was built by UCC Holding, part of Power International Holding, and won an RLI International Retail and Leisure Destination award in 2017. Its cineplex was planned with an IMAX screen. Al Riffa station on the Green Line opened in 2019 with a bridge straight into the mall, which makes the metro the simplest way to arrive on match days.
