The Procession of the Mysteries, also known as the "Processione dei Misteri di Trapani," is a remarkable event that takes place in Trapani, Sicily during Holy Week, specifically on Good Friday. This age-old tradition, dating back 400 years, is regarded as the longest religious display in Italy and holds significant cultural and religious importance.

The procession begins in the afternoon at the Baroque Church of Anime Sante del Purgatorio, where 18 wooden floats are kept. These floats, adorned with statues, silver ornamentation, and flowers, depict various scenes from the Passion and Death of Christ, showcasing a range of emotions such as sadness and suffering. Each float is carried by 10 men on their shoulders, accompanied by a musical band that leads the way.

As the procession traverses the streets of Trapani, locals and visitors alike witness this extraordinary display of faith and devotion. The solemn atmosphere is enhanced by the haunting melodies played by the band. The procession continues throughout the night, culminating in all-night festivities before the floats are returned to the church on Black Saturday, concluding the 24-hour event.
