In short

Alain Ducasse's one-MICHELIN-star French restaurant on the fifth floor of the Museum of Islamic Art, looking over Doha Bay to West Bay. It suits museum visitors and formal lunches or dinners at fine-dining prices, and is closed on Fridays and Saturdays.

IDAM by Alain Ducasse is a one-star MICHELIN contemporary French restaurant on the fifth floor of the Museum of Islamic Art on Doha's Corniche. It looks over Doha Bay to the West Bay towers and suits museum visitors and diners planning a formal lunch or dinner from Sunday to Thursday.

Philippe Starck's dining room atop I. M. Pei's museum

Philippe Starck designed the dining room at the top of I. M. Pei's museum building, which stands on its own island at the edge of the bay. Windows face across the water to the West Bay skyline, which makes daytime lunch the best time for the view. Taxis drop guests at the museum, and the Corniche Metro station is within walking distance.

French tasting menus with Middle Eastern touches

The kitchen serves seasonal contemporary French tasting menus with a subtle Middle Eastern touch, and a shorter menu at lunch. Several dishes are finished at the table. Michelin's inspectors mention plates built around lamb and quail, asparagus and beetroot, and a chocolate and orange ravioli dessert. As in most of Qatar's museum restaurants, no alcohol is served; the drinks list focuses on mocktails, juices and teas. Prices sit in Michelin's highest band for Doha.

IDAM was one of two Doha restaurants to receive a star in the first MICHELIN Guide Doha.

Visiting the museum before lunch

Arriving an hour before lunch leaves time for the museum galleries, and MIA Park runs along the waterfront outside.

IDAM's 2026 MENA's 50 Best ranking

IDAM entered MENA's 50 Best Restaurants for the first time in 2026, at No. 44, and was named the best restaurant in Qatar on that list. The results were announced at Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental in Abu Dhabi on 3 February 2026. Pair the award with the MICHELIN star and it is the most decorated restaurant in Doha's museum district, so book early for Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
