Persian cooking in one of Doha's most ornate dining rooms, inside Souq Waqif on Al Souq Street. Saffron rice, kebabs and stews make it a sit-down meal for couples, families and souq visitors.
Parisa Souq Waqif is a Persian restaurant on Al Souq Street inside Souq Waqif, Doha's restored market quarter. It serves saffron rice, kebabs and stews in one of the most ornate dining rooms in the city and suits couples, families and souq visitors after a sit-down meal.
Hand-painted artworks show scenes from Persian myths and legends, and the walls and ceilings are covered in mosaics, chandeliers and thousands of small mirrors. The mirrors were chosen in Iran and assembled in Doha over about three and a half years, and the room glitters in the evening light.
Parisa cooks Persian and Iranian classics. Saffron rice dishes and grilled kebabs lead, with slow-cooked stews, mezze, fresh breads and Persian desserts around them. Prices are higher than the casual cafés in the souq and moderate for a full sit-down meal in Doha.
Souq Waqif Metro station is a few minutes away on foot, and the souq's car parks are close for those arriving by taxi or car. A late lunch followed by a walk through the souq lanes as the evening crowds arrive is a popular way to plan the visit. Parisa has other branches: the first opened in 2012 at The Ritz-Carlton Sharq Village, and a branch at Al Messila followed alongside this one.
