Coastal path
Walk the sentier du littoral from cove to cove, starting below the Citadel.
Saint-Tropez's beaches are a string of small coves within the commune, from La Ponche in the old village to Les Graniers, Les Canoubiers, Les Salins and La Bouillabaisse, linked by the coastal path. Public beaches are free at any hour, while beach clubs and lifeguards are seasonal. Spend half a day or a full one hopping between them.
The beaches of Saint-Tropez are a set of small sandy coves inside the commune of Saint-Tropez on the French Riviera, from La Ponche in the old town to La Bouillabaisse at the western entrance. They suit visitors staying in the village who want a swim within walking distance. Pampelonne, the long beach often linked with the resort, belongs to neighbouring Ramatuelle.
La Ponche is the most central beach, a fishermen's cove tucked into the old town, and La Fontanette follows just beyond it below the Citadel. The tourist office notes that both appear in the 1956 film And God Created Woman with Brigitte Bardot. They are small and fill quickly in summer, so they work best for an early swim before the village wakes up.
Les Graniers is a small sandy bay just past the Citadel. The tourist office describes it as a preserved natural setting reached by a coastal path, which starts at the seaside cemetery. A string of quieter coves continues from Les Graniers toward Les Canoubiers.
Les Canoubiers is the least developed of the town's beaches, a strip of sand lined with umbrella pines and bordered by private estates. You reach it on foot from the port along the coastal path or by boat. Further east, Les Salins sits near the Parc de la Moutte. The tourist office calls it a family beach with clear water, and it has more room than the coves near the village.
La Bouillabaisse greets drivers arriving from Port-Grimaud and looks across the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. It has fine sand and shallow water, lifeguards in season, toilets and parking, and assisted wheelchair access. In the evening it is the place in town to watch the sun set over the gulf.
