The most romantic restaurants in Bangkok include the rooftop tables at Sirocco and Mezzaluna at lebua at State Tower, Vertigo at Banyan Tree Bangkok and Red Sky at Centara Grand at CentralWorld. They sit in three kinds of places: open-air rooftops 60 floors above the Chao Phraya, riverside terraces that look straight at Wat Arun, and quiet dining rooms in old houses and hotel gardens. This guide picks 25 of them for a date night, an anniversary or a honeymoon dinner, and gives each one the details that matter when you book: the area, the price band, the cooking, the best time to arrive and the catch nobody puts in the brochure.

Planning more of the trip? Start with our guide to the best things to do in Thailand.

If you are still shaping the trip, start with our Bangkok city guide and our Thailand honeymoon planner, then come back here to choose where the big dinner happens. Bangkok rewards couples who plan the evening around the light. Sunset over the river lasts about 20 minutes, and the best tables for it are gone days in advance.

How we chose these 25 places: We started with the restaurants couples ask us about most, then kept only those with something that makes an evening feel special: a view, a setting, a chef worth crossing the city for, or a room quiet enough to talk. Michelin stars quoted here follow the MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2026 selection, checked in October 2026. Price bands run from $ (relaxed, easy on the wallet) to $$$$ (tasting menus and grand hotel dining), so you can compare places without chasing menus that change every season.

Nine of the 25 hold Michelin stars. The highest table is Mezzaluna's on the 65th floor, and the oldest dining room, Le Normandie, opened in 1958.

Setting, cuisine and price band of each restaurant

Bangkok's most romantic restaurants split into rooftops, riverside terraces, fine-dining rooms and garden houses, with prices that reach the $$$$ band at the top rooftops such as Sirocco, Mezzaluna and Vertigo. Most of the rooftop and river tables come with a view. Use this table to narrow the list by setting, view and budget, then jump to the full review below.

25 most romantic restaurants in Bangkok: full guide

Bangkok's 25 most romantic restaurants begin with Sirocco at lebua at State Tower. The list runs from the high rooftops through the river and its cruises to the fine-dining rooms and the quiet garden houses, so you can read it as a menu of moods.

Sirocco at lebua at State Tower

Iconic, open-air and set to live jazz, Sirocco is the rooftop most people picture when they think of Bangkok at night. The tables sit on the 63rd floor of lebua at State Tower in Bang Rak, below the gold dome, with the Chao Phraya curving away beneath you and a jazz band playing on a raised stage. The cooking is Mediterranean, with seafood and grilled meats that are well made if not the reason you came. You come for the stage set: the long staircase down to the terrace, the lit river, the sense of standing on the edge of the city. The neighbouring Sky Bar became famous after The Hangover Part II, and that fame has a cost. Expect photographers, crowds near the bar rail and drinks priced for the view. lebua enforces a smart casual dress code, and the venue's own listings rule out shorts, sleeveless tops for men, sportswear and flip-flops, so dress for the evening you are paying for.

At $$$$, this is a once-in-a-trip anniversary or proposal dinner. Arrive 30 minutes before sunset, ask for a table on the outer rail when you book, and have a backup indoor plan in the rainy season.

Mezzaluna at lebua

Two floors above Sirocco, on the 65th floor, Mezzaluna gives you the same height in a calm, glass-walled room. It holds two stars in the MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2026, and the format is a long modern European tasting menu served at a slow pace, with the city lights coming on outside as the courses arrive. It suits couples who want the view without wind, humidity or a jazz band competing with the conversation. The service is formal and attentive, which some couples love and others find a little stiff. The real caveat is cost: this is one of the most expensive dinners in Bangkok once wine pairing is added, so decide on the pairing before you sit down. Dietary needs should go in the booking note, since the kitchen plans each menu in advance.

Choose it ($$$$) for a milestone anniversary where the food matters as much as the view. Reserve well ahead, take the earliest dinner seating for daylight views, and mention the occasion in the booking.

Vertigo at Banyan Tree Bangkok

Probably the most photographed rooftop in the city, Vertigo is an open-air grill on the 61st floor of the Banyan Tree in Sathorn, with tables lined in a narrow strip along the edge of the building. There is no glass between you and the drop, only a low wall, which makes the setting feel exposed in the best way. The menu leans on grilled seafood, steaks and international dishes, and the moonlit layout is what people photograph. Sathorn's towers surround you on every side, so the view here is the business district glittering, with Lumphini Park as a dark patch to the north. Two honest warnings. The rooftop closes when storms or strong winds arrive, which is common between May and October. The narrow layout also means tables close together, so a whispered proposal will have an audience.

It costs $$$$ and suits couples who want the classic Bangkok skyline photo. Book a sunset table on the edge, stay for the city lights, and check the weather on the day before you travel across town.

Red Sky at Centara Grand at CentralWorld

A curved red arch that lights up after dark gives Red Sky its look. The restaurant sits on top of Centara Grand at CentralWorld, and the arch frames the view across the Ratchaprasong shopping district. That position is its quiet advantage. You can spend the afternoon in the malls of Siam and Chit Lom, change at the hotel and be at your table in minutes, with no taxi ride through rush-hour traffic. The menu is grill-led with seafood and a solid wine list, and the terrace has more breathing room than the riverside towers. The view is commercial: billboards, malls and the BTS line, with no temples or river in sight. If you want Wat Arun in the frame, look further down this list.

Couples staying around Siam or Ratchaprasong get the most from it, at $$$. Go at sunset, when the arch is lit, pair it with an afternoon of shopping and ask for a table facing the arch.

Octave at Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit

Octave is the relaxed, casual option among the rooftops, spread over several levels at the top of the Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit in Thonglor, with the 45th floor giving a 360-degree view across the eastern side of the city. The atmosphere is looser than the hotel rooftops in Sathorn and Bang Rak. Couples drift between levels, share small plates and stay for a second drink. That makes it a good first or second date, when a formal tasting menu would feel like too much. It also suits couples staying in Thonglor or Ekkamai who would rather not cross the city. The trade-off is noise. Later in the evening, especially on weekends, the music gets louder and the top deck turns into a bar. Go early, eat on the lower dining level and climb up for the view after.

At $$, it delivers a relaxed date with a big view. Arrive by 6pm, before the bar fills up, take the dining level first and save the top deck for a nightcap.

Above Eleven

On the roof of Fraser Suites on Sukhumvit Soi 11, Above Eleven serves Nikkei food, the Peruvian-Japanese cooking born in Lima's Japanese community. Ceviche, tiradito and pisco sours share the menu with grilled skewers, and the terrace is planted with greenery that softens the surrounding towers. It is a fun choice for couples who like their date night with some energy and flavours that differ from the Thai menus elsewhere. Soi 11 is one of the city's nightlife streets, which helps if you want to keep going after dinner. It also means this is not a quiet room. By 9pm the music and the after-work crowd take over, so book an early table if you want to hear each other.

Lively couples and food lovers who want something different will enjoy it at $$$. Come for dinner from sunset onwards, book a garden-side table and order the ceviche to share.

Sala Rattanakosin

From its old-town spot on Maharat Road near Tha Tien, the rooftop of Sala Rattanakosin hotel looks straight across the Chao Phraya at Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, at close range. Few views in Bangkok are this intimate: the central prang feels close enough to touch, and when the floodlights come on after sunset the temple glows against a darkening sky. The hotel is a short walk from the Grand Palace and Wat Pho, so you can spend the afternoon at the temples, shower, and be on the roof for the light. The kitchen serves modern Thai and international dishes that do the job. The setting is the main act. The space is small, and the sunset tables near the rail go first, so this is not a place to drop in on a whim in high season.

Honeymooners staying in the old town should put it ($$$) on the list. Book a rail table for 30 minutes before sunset, when Wat Arun turns gold, and confirm the reservation the day before.

Supanniga Eating Room, Tha Tien

Family recipes from the founder's grandmother are the heart of Supanniga Eating Room, with dishes from Trat on the eastern coast and from Isan in the north-east. The Tha Tien branch sits in a building beside the pier, with a rooftop that faces Wat Arun across the water. For couples, it hits a sweet spot: a proper Thai meal with real regional character, a river view, and a bill well below the hotel restaurants. The menu is good for sharing. Order a few plates and work through them slowly while the sky changes. The branch in Thonglor has the same food without the view. The caveat is space: tables are close and the room fills with groups, so ask for a rooftop table, which has more space than the dining room.

For couples who want authentic Thai cooking with the Wat Arun view at $$, this is the one. Book the rooftop for sunset, move indoors for dinner after, and arrive by boat at Tha Tien.

The Deck by Arun Residence

Quiet and intimate, The Deck is a small riverside restaurant at Arun Residence, a boutique hotel in the old-town lanes behind Wat Pho. Its terrace faces Wat Arun across the river, and once the sunset crowd moves on, it becomes one of the quieter places to dine with the temple lit up in front of you. The menu covers Thai favourites and simple international dishes. It is a simple neighbourhood restaurant, and that is part of the appeal for couples tired of formal service. Finding it is half the adventure: it sits down a narrow lane near Tha Tien, and taxis often drop you at the wrong end. Walk from the pier, or show the driver a map pin.

Expect a calm $$ dinner with a temple view. Come after sunset, when the crowds thin, and book the terrace edge.

Anne-Sophie Pic at Le Normandie, Mandarin Oriental

French haute cuisine has been served at Le Normandie, in the Mandarin Oriental on Charoen Krung in Bang Rak, since 1958, and for decades it has been Bangkok's grand-occasion restaurant. In the MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2026 it appears as Anne-Sophie Pic at Le Normandie, promoted to two stars. The room is all river views, soft lighting and quiet service, the kind of setting where a marriage proposal feels natural. Expect a long tasting menu built on French technique and fine produce, with a cellar to match. The dress code is strict, the bill is high, and the pace is slow. Some couples love the old-world ceremony. Others find it formal for a holiday. If you do go, arrive early and have a drink on the hotel's riverside terrace first.

Reserve this $$$$ room for a proposal or big anniversary. Mention the occasion when booking, and pack proper evening wear and closed shoes.

Thiptara at The Peninsula Bangkok

Lantern-lit wooden pavilions in the Peninsula's riverside gardens, on the Thonburi bank of the Chao Phraya in Khlong San, are where Thiptara serves traditional Thai cooking. After dark the pavilions and paths glow and the river traffic slides past a few metres away, which makes it one of the most romantic settings in the city without any height or glass involved. The food is classic Thai, refined and well balanced, and the staff are happy to adjust spice levels for visitors. Getting here is part of the charm. The hotel's shuttle boats cross from Sathorn Pier, so the evening starts on the water. The drawback is that it is a hotel restaurant with hotel prices ($$$), and outdoor seats can be hot and humid in April and May.

It suits couples who want river atmosphere without heights. Come after dark, ask for a pavilion table by the water and take the hotel boat across from Sathorn Pier.

Blue by Alain Ducasse

Alain Ducasse's Bangkok restaurant is set inside ICONSIAM on the Thonburi riverbank in Khlong San. The dining room is dressed in blue and white, with windows over the river. The cooking is contemporary French with a light touch, and it holds one star in the MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2026. The location inside a giant mall puts some people off, and it is true that you walk through retail floors to reach a fine-dining room. Once you are seated, though, the room is calm and elegant, and the location solves a practical problem: ICONSIAM has its own pier, so you can arrive by river shuttle from Sathorn and skip the bridge traffic.

Couples who love French food and prefer a quieter fine-dining room should book well in advance; the price band is $$$$. Arrive by the ICONSIAM shuttle boat from Sathorn Pier.

Baan Khanitha by the River

For decades Baan Khanitha has served classic Thai dishes in Bangkok, and it is a safe pick when one of you wants romance and the other wants a reliable plate of green curry. The riverside branch at ICONSIAM in Khlong San adds water views and space between tables. The Sathorn branch sits in an old house, with a quieter, more domestic feel that some couples prefer. The menu is long and familiar: curries, yum salads, grilled seafood and Thai desserts, cooked consistently and served without fuss. It will not surprise you, and that is the point. Visitors who want bold, uncompromising regional cooking should look at Supanniga or Sorn instead. For a relaxed anniversary with good Thai food, Baan Khanitha delivers.

At $$, it is proven Thai food in a pretty setting. Go for an early dinner and ask for a terrace table at the river branch, or a corner table in the Sathorn house.

Manohra Cruises

A restored teak rice barge carries Manohra's Thai dinner cruises, leaving from the pier at the Anantara Bangkok Riverside, with a shuttle boat from Sathorn Pier. The barge is small and slow, which is exactly why couples choose it over the big buffet ships. You eat a set Thai dinner at a candlelit table while the boat drifts past Wat Arun, the Grand Palace and the riverside hotels, all lit up. The cruise is unhurried and quiet enough to talk. The caveats are practical. You are on a boat for the whole evening, so there is no leaving early, and the menu is set, with no à la carte option. The views on the downriver stretch are mostly hotels and condos until you reach the old town.

Honeymooners who want one evening on the water should take an evening departure, so you pass the temples lit up; expect $$$. Book a table on the open deck, and allow time for the shuttle from Sathorn Pier.

Gaggan

Chef Gaggan Anand's restaurant on Sukhumvit Soi 31 is less a dinner than a performance. Guests sit at a single counter while a long progressive Indian tasting menu plays out in front of them, with music, jokes and dishes that tease the idea of Indian food. It sits at No. 3 on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2026 and holds one star in the MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2026. For couples who both love food, it is a night to plan a trip around. For a couple wanting quiet eye contact and soft lighting, it is the wrong pick. The format is social and loud, you sit side by side with strangers, and the experience runs for hours. Seats are released in advance and sell out fast.

Food-obsessed couples celebrating something big will find it worth the $$$$. Book as soon as seats open, weeks ahead, and tell the team about allergies in advance.

Sorn

Southern Thai cooking, served as a long tasting menu in a converted house with very few tables on Sukhumvit Soi 26, made Sorn the first Thai restaurant to earn three Michelin stars, and it holds them in the 2026 guide. The kitchen sources produce from the south of Thailand and cooks it with depth and real heat, course after course, explaining the origin of each dish at the table. The house has very few seats, and that is what makes it romantic: you are in a small, warm room with a kitchen cooking at its peak. It is also what makes it hard to book. Reservations open in advance and go quickly, and the spice level is authentic. Couples who struggle with chilli should say so in the booking.

This $$$$ dinner is for couples who want the best Thai meal of their lives, and it takes months of planning ahead. Set an alert for the booking window and note any spice limits.

Sühring

German twin chefs Thomas and Mathias Sühring serve modern German tasting menus in a garden villa on Soi Yen Akat 3 in Sathorn. In the MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2026 it was raised to three stars, joining Sorn as one of only two three-star restaurants in the country. The food draws on the twins' childhood: bread baskets, cured meats, seasonal vegetables and refined versions of home cooking, served in a house that feels like a private dinner party. For couples it is warm and personal, with the garden lit up outside the windows. Being in a quiet residential soi means taxis struggle with the address, and the bill ($$$$) matches the stars. Book early.

It makes a refined but relaxed anniversary dinner. Book well ahead and save the address as a map pin for the taxi.

Le Du

Thai ingredients reimagined with modern technique earn Le Du one star in the MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2026. The name is a play on the Thai word for season, and the menu follows what is fresh across the country, served as a tasting menu in a small, warm room on Soi Siri Chunsawek in Silom. For couples it is a sensible middle ground. You get a starred meal and a sense of what modern Thai cooking can be, without the full ceremony or price of the three-star rooms. The wine list is strong. The room is compact and lively, and tables are close, so it suits conversation more than a whispered proposal.

At $$$, it gives couples a starred Thai meal without the grand-hotel feel. Book a mid-week table for an easier reservation and try the wine pairing.

Nahm at COMO Metropolitan

Intense, carefully balanced Thai cooking is Nahm's signature at the COMO Metropolitan hotel on Sathorn Road, and it holds one star in the MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2026. The cooking draws on old Thai recipes, and the flavours are bold: sour, salty, sweet and hot all at full volume. The dining room is calm and modern, with a terrace by the pool for drinks before dinner. It makes a good choice for couples who want serious Thai food in a hotel setting with polished service. The heat level is real, so ask for guidance when ordering. Some visitors find the cooking too intense, and the room is elegant but plain, with no skyline or river view.

Couples who love Thai flavours at full strength should allow time for the full menu ($$$). Start with a drink by the pool and ask staff to pace the spice.

Paste

In a calm, elegant room at Gaysorn Village in Ploenchit, Paste serves refined Thai food based on old recipes, plated with care. The kitchen reworks those historic dishes with precise technique, so you taste flavours you will not find on most menus. For couples it offers a quiet, polished dinner in the middle of the shopping district, a short walk from the BTS at Chit Lom. The room is soft and stylish without being stuffy. The location inside a luxury mall is the main drawback for romance, and the menu can feel cerebral if you just want a great curry. Ask the staff to explain the story behind each dish. That is where the meal comes alive.

Curious couples who want Thai food with a history lesson can book dinner ($$$) after an afternoon in Ratchaprasong and ask for a corner table.

Bo.lan

Thai heritage cooking, built on traditional recipes and ingredients sourced with care from Thai farmers and producers, defines Bo.lan in the Sukhumvit area. The restaurant closed in 2020 and reopened in late 2024 with dinners served in samrub style, a traditional Thai set of dishes shared across the table. In the MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2026 it earned one star. For couples, the samrub format is quietly romantic: a spread of curries, relishes, soups and salads to share, eaten slowly, the way Thai families have always eaten. The flavours are uncompromising. It is not a view restaurant, and the experience depends on liking strong, traditional Thai tastes. Book ahead and arrive hungry.

It suits couples who want to eat the way Thais share a meal, at $$$. Book dinner and ask the staff to walk you through the samrub.

Issaya Siamese Club

A 1920s colonial-style house with a tropical garden, in a quiet lane in Thung Maha Mek, Sathorn, is home to Issaya, and its modern Thai menu suits both a first date and an anniversary. The house has a colourful, playful interior, and the garden tables under the trees feel miles from the city traffic outside. The cooking takes familiar Thai flavours and gives them a modern twist, with plates that are fun to share. It is romantic in an easy, unforced way. The lane is hard to find, and drivers often get lost, so share a map pin. Garden tables are hot in April and May and exposed in a heavy shower, so ask for an indoor table in the rainy months.

For a $$$ garden date away from towers and malls, request a garden table for dinner in the dry season and share the map pin with your driver.

Blue Elephant

Royal Thai cuisine is served in a century-old colonial mansion on South Sathorn Road, directly opposite BTS Surasak. The dining rooms at Blue Elephant are grand and atmospheric, with high ceilings and heritage details, and the menu leans on dishes once cooked for the Thai court. The house also runs a cooking school, which opens up a lovely idea for couples: take a class in the morning and come back for dinner in the evening. The BTS location makes it easy to reach from anywhere in the city. The criticism you will hear is that Blue Elephant is touristy and polished to suit visitors, with spice dialled down. If you want fiery, regional cooking, look at Sorn or Nahm.

Couples who like history and an easy journey will enjoy it at $$$. Book a class earlier in the day and reserve dinner in the main house.

Eat Me

Art on the walls and a long wine list have kept Eat Me, in a leafy lane off Convent Road in Silom, a Bangkok date spot for more than two decades. The menu is modern and international, built on good produce. The wine list is a large part of its appeal, and the lighting, music and service create an atmosphere that feels grown-up without being formal. For couples it works on almost any night: an early first date, a late anniversary dinner, or just a long evening of wine and conversation. The lane can be hard to spot, and the room gets busy and loud on weekends, so book a weekday table if you want it calm.

Wine-loving couples and late diners are its natural crowd, at $$$: order wine first, then a late dinner.

Medici Kitchen and Bar

Candlelight and a theatrical room set the tone at Medici, the Italian restaurant of Hotel Muse Bangkok. It is a good pick when one of you wants a break from Thai food, and the setting does a lot of the romantic work: low lighting, deep colours, an evening that feels a little cinematic. The menu covers pasta, risotto and meat dishes, executed with care. The hotel is in Langsuan, close to Lumphini Park and the Chit Lom area, so it combines easily with a sunset drink elsewhere first. As with many hotel restaurants, the food is reliable without being memorable, and the prices ($$$) reflect the setting.

Couples who want Italian food in a romantic room should come for a late dinner, ask for a candlelit booth and have a rooftop drink nearby beforehand.

How to choose a romantic restaurant in Bangkok by mood and budget

The view you want comes first, because it decides the neighbourhood. Skyline rooftops cluster in Bang Rak, Sathorn and Sukhumvit, while Wat Arun views belong to the old town around Tha Tien and to the hotels on the Thonburi bank. Choose the river if one of you dislikes heights. A pavilion at water level, a teak barge or a terrace across from the temple is just as memorable as a 60th-floor table, and far less exposed to wind and rain.

Then decide how much of the evening should be about the food. The starred tasting menus run three hours or more and ask for your full attention, which is wonderful for couples who love cooking and tiring for those who just want a pretty dinner. A good pattern for a short trip is one big tasting-menu night and one relaxed evening at a riverside or garden restaurant. If budget matters, the $$ places in this guide give you the river view and real Thai cooking for a fraction of a hotel bill, and a sunset drink at a rooftop bar followed by dinner somewhere calmer gives you both experiences without paying rooftop prices for every course.

Finally, think about logistics. Bangkok traffic between 5pm and 8pm can turn a 5 km taxi ride into an hour. Choose a restaurant near your hotel or on the river, where the Chao Phraya Express boats and hotel shuttles from Sathorn Pier beat the roads. Compare riverside stays on our hotels page if you want to be close to the evening action.

Tips for booking a romantic dinner in Bangkok

Book a romantic Bangkok dinner for the light: sunset falls between about 5:45pm and 6:50pm all year, so a table 30 minutes before it gives you daylight, golden hour and the city lights in one sitting. Pack one smart outfit, because hotel rooftops turn away shorts, flip-flops and sportswear.

  • Book for the light. Bangkok sits close to the equator, so sunset falls between about 5:45pm and 6:50pm all year. Book your table 30 minutes before it and you get daylight, golden hour and the city lights in one sitting.
  • Pack one smart outfit. Hotel rooftops and fine-dining rooms turn away shorts, flip-flops, sportswear and sleeveless tops for men. One pair of closed shoes and a collared shirt or dress covers almost every restaurant here.
  • Plan around the rain. Between May and October, afternoon and evening storms can close open-air rooftops at short notice. Confirm on the day, and prefer restaurants with an indoor room as backup.
  • Mention the occasion. Write \"anniversary\", \"honeymoon\" or \"proposal\" in the booking note. Many restaurants will hold a better table, prepare a dessert message or help discreetly with a ring.
  • Travel by river. The Chao Phraya Express boats and hotel shuttles from Sathorn Pier reach the old town, ICONSIAM and the Peninsula without road traffic, and the ride itself is part of the date.
  • Read the bill twice. Restaurants in Bangkok usually add a 10% service charge and 7% VAT, shown as ++ on menus. Factor this in before ordering wine, which carries heavy import duty in Thailand.
