Jamuna Future Park is the largest shopping mall in Bangladesh, with about 380,000 square metres of floor space on Pragati Sarani between Kuril and Bashundhara in north-east Dhaka. Open since 2013 and free to enter, it suits shoppers, families with children and anyone needing an air-conditioned day out near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

Jamuna Group's mall on a 33-acre site

Jamuna Builders, part of the Jamuna Group, started construction in 2002 and finished the exterior in 2008. The architect was AJM Alamgir. The mall opened on 6 September 2013 on a 33-acre site and is often described as the largest mall in South Asia. It holds about 510 shops, runs its own 45-megawatt power plant and was built to the earthquake standards of the Bangladesh National Building Code. Sources give seven or eight floors.

Parking, hypermarket, atria and food courts

The basements hold parking for about 2,500 cars and a hypermarket of nearly 200,000 square feet. Level 1 has the central atria used for concerts, musicals and fashion shows. The floors above carry branded and local shops, banks and food courts. A very large Indian Visa Application Centre on the ground floor keeps the building busy on weekdays.

Cinema, bowling and pools on the fifth floor

The fifth floor is given over to leisure: a children's theme park, a seven-screen multiplex cinema, a 22-lane bowling alley, a gym and health club, separate swimming pools for men and women, and exhibition and banquet halls.
