What to expect

Air Cambodia is the national flag carrier of Cambodia. It began flying on 28 July 2009 as Cambodia Angkor Air, a joint venture between the Cambodian government and Vietnam Airlines, and took its current name on 1 January 2025. A new logo and livery followed in January 2026. The government still holds a stake, alongside private investors.

The airline is based at Techo International Airport (KTI), the new Phnom Penh airport that replaced the old Pochentong site, with a second hub at Siem Reap–Angkor International. Its fleet is small: two Airbus A320s, one A321 with a business cabin and three ATR 72-600 turboprops. Ten Boeing 737-8s are on firm order, and the first Comac C909 regional jets are due from late 2026.

For Thailand, Air Cambodia flies between Phnom Penh Techo and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi. Fares and timings for both directions are on our Phnom Penh to Bangkok flights and Bangkok to Phnom Penh flights pages. Visitors heading for Angkor Wat can compare carriers on Bangkok to Siem Reap flights.

Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, where most long-haul flights arrive, is a common place to join Air Cambodia for Phnom Penh. Beyond Bangkok, the network is strongest in Vietnam and southern China: Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Phu Quoc and Nha Trang, plus Guangzhou, Fuzhou, Nanning, Zhengzhou and Hong Kong. It also flies to Delhi and, via Fuzhou, to Tokyo Narita.

Who owns Air Cambodia?

Cambodia Angkor Air was set up with US$100 million of capital, 51% from the Cambodian government and 49% from Vietnam Airlines, as the country's first flag carrier since Royal Air Cambodge stopped flying in 2001. Vietnam Airlines sold most of its share in 2020. The ownership now listed is 30% Royal Cambodian Government, 28% Xing Gang Investment Group, 28% 7TRIP International and 14% Vietnam Airlines. The chairman is Mao Havannall, the codes are K6 (IATA) and KHV (ICAO), and the new logo unveiled on 15 January 2026 takes its shape from the giant ibis.

Milestones on the route map

The first Airbus A321 arrived on 2 September 2009. On 30 November 2012 the airline started Siem Reap to Bangkok, ending Bangkok Airways' monopoly on that route, and on 26 September 2013 its Guangzhou to Siem Reap flight did the same for China Southern. Siem Reap to Sihanoukville followed in December 2011. Ho Chi Minh City is a focus city, reflecting the airline's Vietnamese roots.
