What to expect

Cambodia Airways is a privately owned Cambodian airline, founded in September 2017. It flew its first commercial service on 10 July 2018 and now runs a fleet of six aircraft from Techo International Airport, the airport that opened in 2025 to replace the old Phnom Penh International. It is a different company from Air Cambodia, the national carrier, even though the two names are easy to confuse on a search page.

The airline's Thailand route is Phnom Penh Techo to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi. Fares and timings in both directions are on our Phnom Penh to Bangkok flights and Bangkok to Phnom Penh flights pages. In September 2026 Cambodia Airways also filed a second Thai link, Siem Reap to Suvarnabhumi on ATR 72 turboprops, as part of a wider push from Siem Reap; Bangkok to Siem Reap flights shows the current options on that sector.

Most of the network points north and east. Cambodia Airways serves a long list of mainland Chinese cities, including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Haikou and Nanjing, plus Hong Kong and Macau. Elsewhere it flies to Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Singapore, Vientiane and Muan in South Korea, and since mid-2026 it has added domestic ATR flights linking Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville.

Long-haul travellers can join Cambodia Airways in Bangkok, since its flight leaves from Suvarnabhumi, the airport most intercontinental flights use (see also Dhaka to Bangkok flights). Book the inbound flight into Suvarnabhumi too, to avoid a transfer to Don Mueang.

Who is behind Cambodia Airways?

Cambodia Airways was founded in September 2017 and flew its first commercial service on 10 July 2018; by August 2019 it served eight routes from Phnom Penh. In 2024 the airline filed for a listing on Nasdaq, with a prospectus stating that it is incorporated in the Cayman Islands. The current chairman and chief executive is Edison Duan. As of January 2024 it was the third-largest airline in Cambodia by passengers.

Routes added and dropped since 2020

Hahn Air became an interline partner in April 2020. Muan in South Korea was added in late December 2024 and Penang in June 2025, while Beijing, Taipei, Taichung and Ho Chi Minh City have been dropped. Dara Sakor on the Cambodian coast also appears on the route list. Its ICAO code is KME and the radio call sign is GIANT IBIS.

Where your flight allows it, check in on cambodia-airways.com or app with your surname and booking reference or e-ticket number.

    Passport · visa · ID
  3. Step 3

    Arrive early

Get to the airport with time for Cambodia Airways check-in, bag drop and security. The airline sets a deadline for each airport, shown in your booking, and late arrivals can lose their seat.

Points to check when you book Cambodia Airways between Bangkok and Cambodia.

  1. 01

    Read KR versus K6

Cambodia Airways and Air Cambodia both sell Bangkok to Phnom Penh. The flight code tells you which baggage rules and contacts apply.

    Two Cambodian airlines
  2. 02

Watch the new Siem Reap flights

A Siem Reap to Bangkok service was filed for September 2026. If it is on sale for your dates, it saves a road or domestic connection via Phnom Penh.

    From Sep 2026
  3. 03

    Allow time for Techo

Phnom Penh flights use Techo International, south of the city. Leave more travel time than you would have for the old airport.

    New airport
  4. 04

    Keep to Suvarnabhumi

Most international flights into Bangkok and the KR flight to Phnom Penh both use Suvarnabhumi, so many connections need no airport transfer.

    Bangkok
  5. 05

    Check the flight code

Cambodia Airways and Air Cambodia both fly Phnom Penh to Bangkok. Check the flight code before you pay, because baggage rules and customer service contacts belong to whichever airline operates the flight: KR for Cambodia Airways, K6 for Air Cambodia.
