Bangkok to Siem Reap flight guide
Bangkok Airways, Emirates and Thai AirAsia fly nonstop from Bangkok to Siem Reap–Angkor International Airport (SAI), the gateway to the temples of Angkor in north-west Cambodia. Bangkok Airways and Emirates leave from Suvarnabhumi (BKK); Thai AirAsia flies from Don Mueang (DMK). The 377 km flight takes about an hour, and it is the quickest way from Thailand to Angkor Wat.
Bangkok Airways is the long-standing operator from Suvarnabhumi. Emirates also sells seats between the two airports. Thai AirAsia flies from Don Mueang as the low-cost option. Thai AirAsia prices the seat alone, with bags and meals as extras, while Bangkok Airways and Emirates include them, so compare the total once a checked bag is added.
Suvarnabhumi lies about 25 km east of central Bangkok, and the Airport Rail Link reaches it from Phaya Thai in about 27 minutes. Don Mueang, in the north of the city, is Bangkok's original airport, opened in 1914; it is served by the SRT Dark Red Line and by city buses A1 to A4. A Royal Thai Air Force golf course lies between its two runways. Since the airports are on opposite sides of the city, check the code on your ticket before ordering a taxi.
Siem Reap–Angkor International Airport opened on 16 October 2023 and replaced the old airport close to the temples. It was built by a Chinese investor under a 55-year build, operate and transfer agreement at a cost of US$1.1 billion. The concrete runway is 3,605 m long, and the first phase handles 7 million passengers a year.
The airport is about 50 km east of Siem Reap town and 40 km east of Angkor Wat, so plan on an hour or more by road. Shared minibuses and taxis meet arrivals, and many hotels arrange pick-ups. If you plan to visit the temples on the day you land, set off early.
Requirements vary by nationality. Check the official Cambodian e-visa site or the Cambodian embassy before booking, and bring a passport with enough validity left.
Biman, US-Bangla and Thai Airways fly from Dhaka into Suvarnabhumi (see Dhaka to Bangkok flights), the same airport as the Bangkok Airways and Emirates flights. The Don Mueang flight means crossing Bangkok and checking in again, so allow at least four hours. A single Thai Airways ticket, where one is sold, keeps your bag checked through. Separate tickets mean clearing Thai immigration.
There is no time difference between Bangkok and Siem Reap; both keep UTC+7 all year. A morning flight therefore leaves the afternoon free for a first look at the temples.

General
There is no time difference: both run on UTC+7 all year.
Yes. Fly Dhaka to Bangkok on Biman, US-Bangla or Thai Airways, all of which land at Suvarnabhumi, then take one of the Siem Reap flights. Booking both legs on one Thai Airways ticket, where available, keeps you airside with your bag checked through. Two separate tickets mean clearing Thai immigration, which needs a Thai visa.
That depends on your nationality. Check the official Cambodian e-visa site or the Cambodian embassy before booking.
What's included
It depends on the airline. Thai AirAsia is a low-cost carrier whose basic fares include only a cabin bag, so add checked baggage when you book. The full-service airlines normally include a checked bag; the allowance is shown on your booking.
Stay & facilities
On the full-service airlines, request a Muslim (halal) meal when you book or at least 24 hours before departure through the airline's manage-booking page. On Thai AirAsia, meals are bought online or on board; check the menu for halal options.
