Char Hare, also called Char Kalagachia, is a remote island off Rangabali upazila in Patuakhali district with a 4-km sandy beach and almost no facilities, reached only by boat. There is no entry fee, and boats travel in daylight, so return before the last boat or dark. Adventurous travellers usually stay one or two nights.

Char Hare lies in the Bay of Bengal off the coast of Rangabali upazila, Patuakhali district, in Barishal division. Locally it is also called Char Kalagachia. Sonar Char beach lies about 4 kilometres away and Char Tufania about 7 kilometres.

Like the other chars of the delta, it is a low island of river sediment, exposed to the sea and to storms. To its east is a protected forest area, and it sits next to Char Kashem.

The main feature is a sandy beach of about 4 kilometres facing the open sea. The island has stayed largely untouched, which is why it has begun to draw adventure and eco tourists looking for an empty coast.

There are no hotels, restaurants or shops on the island. Visitors need to bring their own food and water, and anyone planning to camp should confirm permission locally and come properly equipped.

There is no entry fee; boat hire from the Rangabali coast is arranged and priced locally, so agree the fare before setting off. Go only in the drier winter months when the sea is calmer, never when a storm signal is up, and allow at least two or three days for a trip from Dhaka.
