Khoiyachora is a multi-tiered waterfall with seven major cascades in Mirsharai, Chattogram, inside Baroiyadhala National Park, and the best-known fall in these hills. Entry is ticketed. There are no published hours, so start early and be back on the highway before dark. The lower falls take three to four hours return, an easy day trip from Chattogram, while the upper tiers need most of a day.
Khoiyachora Waterfall is a multi-tiered fall in Khoiyachora union, Mirsharai upazila, Chattogram district, Bangladesh, inside Baroiyadhala National Park. It is the best-known fall in the Mirsharai hills and suits day-trippers from Dhaka or Chattogram who are happy with a stream walk of about an hour and a half.
The fall lies in the low hills east of the Dhaka to Chattogram highway, with the trailhead at Baratakia bazar, in front of Baroiyadhala National Park. The government declared the park on 6 April 2010, covering about 2,934 hectares across Mirsharai and Sitakunda, and Khoiyachora is its main attraction. Chattogram-bound buses stop at Baratakia; by rail, take a train to Feni and a local bus. A CNG from the school to the stream costs about Tk 100.
Most counts give seven major cascades, each with its own pool, plus many minor steps, though some travel writers count nine. The lowest tier is a wide fall into a broad, shallow basin, and most visitors stop there. The upper tiers are reached by steep scrambles over wet rock and roots, and their pools are smaller and quieter.
From Baratakia the path follows a stream past paddy fields, bamboo groves and village houses into the hills. The forest around the fall is mixed evergreen with tall garjan trees. Khoiyachora became popular in the late 2000s and now draws big crowds on holidays. Adventure clubs use the rock faces for rappelling and jumaring training.
