Komoldoho cascade
The lower fall, locally called Ruposhi.
Komoldoho is a cascade near Boro Darogahat in Sitakunda, inside Baroiyadhala National Park, and the start of a stream network leading to several higher falls. Entry is on a trail ticket, and no hours are published, so begin early and be back on the highway before dark. The lower fall takes about an hour there and back.
Komoldoho Waterfall is a cascade near Boro Darogahat bazar on the Dhaka to Chattogram highway, on the Sitakunda and Mirsharai border in Chattogram district, Bangladesh. It sits inside Baroiyadhala National Park and suits walkers who want a short, fairly easy fall, with harder branches above for the experienced.
The fall lies in the hills east of Boro Darogahat, about 3 km from the bazar, and is one of the closest falls in the park to the main road. From the bazar, walk toward Dhaka to a brickfield, cross it and take the mud road on the right to the stream; the hills begin after about twenty minutes. Buses from Dhaka reach Boro Darogahat for about Tk 800, and a local bus from Alankar Mor in Chattogram costs about Tk 80.
The first fall is Ruposhi, named by local people for its looks and estimated at roughly 120 to 140 feet. The route is often called the Boro Komoldoho trail to set it apart from a smaller trail nearby. Some writers call a fall here Sohosrodhara-2, which causes confusion with Sohosrodhara in Sitakunda Eco Park; they are separate places.
Above Ruposhi the stream splits. One branch leads to Chagolkanda-1, a drop of about 50 feet, and further junctions lead to Chagolkanda-2, Pathorbhanga and Rihuichhori. In all the trail includes four to five falls. The branches are confusing and the upper falls need climbing over wet rock, so go with a guide or an experienced friend beyond the first cascade.
The lower fall, locally called Ruposhi.
Two falls further up the stream branches.
A paved road past Narayan Ashram offers a shorter way back.
Fairly easy by local trail standards, but wet and rocky; not wheelchair accessible.
