In short

The Napittachora trail follows a hill stream in Mirsharai, Chattogram, inside Baroiyadhala National Park, past a chain of falls and pools from the stepped Tipra Khum to Bandar Khum, the biggest drop. There is no known fee and no published hours, so start early and return to the highway before dark. Active walkers comfortable on wet rock need four to five hours.

The Napittachora Waterfall Trail is a hill-stream walk past four main falls in Khoiyachora union, Mirsharai upazila, Chattogram district, Bangladesh, inside Baroiyadhala National Park. It suits active walkers on a day trip from Dhaka or Chattogram who are comfortable on wet, polished rock for four to five hours.

Starting at Nayduari bazar on the highway

The walk begins at Nayduari bazar on the Dhaka to Chattogram highway. From there it is 40 to 50 minutes on foot, across the railway, to the trailhead at Napittachora para, and the hill section starts soon after. Chattogram-bound buses stop at Nayduari; local buses run from Alankar City Gate in Chattogram, and from Feni a bus or leguna runs from Mohipal.

Tipra Khum, Kupikata Khum and Baghbiyani

Khum is the local word for the pool below a fall. The first major feature is Tipra Khum, a stepped cascade near the entrance. Further on is Kupikata Khum, a deeper pool enclosed by rock walls. At a junction the left-hand path leads to Baghbiyani, a narrow fall tucked into a cleft.

The right-hand path ends at Bandar Khum, the main fall and the one usually meant by Napittachora Waterfall. Water slides down a steep face into a broad pool, with smaller cascades around it. Names vary: Bandar Khum is also called Bandarichhora or Mithaichhari.

How busy and how hard is it?

This is one of the busiest trails in Mirsharai; local people say 500 to 1,000 visitors come on a single day in season. The full route takes four to five hours at a steady pace, and many walkers turn back after Bandar Khum. Experienced hikers often go alone, but beginners walking the whole trail should take a guide.
