Paris Fashion Week guide
Paris Fashion Week suits visitors who want fashion history as much as the runway buzz. Shows are invitation-only, but the FHCM has fixed 2027 dates: menswear 19 to 24 January, couture 25 to 28 January and womenswear 1 to 9 March. Pair a week of onlooking with the city's fashion museums.
Paris Fashion Week closes the international season and carries the most weight of the four. Its official calendar is set by the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, and it is the only one of the major weeks to include haute couture, the made-to-measure work that only a small number of houses are allowed to call by that name.
The year runs in a fixed order: menswear in January, haute couture straight after, womenswear in early March, then menswear in June, couture in July and womenswear again from late September. Shows take place across the city, in museums, monuments, gardens and the houses' own salons.
Like every fashion week, the shows are by invitation. For anyone else, Paris offers more than most: the crowds outside the shows, and a set of museums devoted to fashion, from the Palais Galliera to the Musée Yves Saint Laurent, where the history behind the runway is on public display.

Hotels near the venue fill up around the event dates.
Paris police and private security manage the busier venues closely, especially for the largest houses.
Both winter weeks are grey, damp and cool, and much of the waiting is done outdoors.
The FHCM publishes the official show schedule.
Guests and photographers gather at venue entrances.
Looks and videos appear on house sites within hours.
Haute couture week starts the day after menswear ends.
Choose your week first. January gives you menswear and couture back to back with slightly lower hotel prices; the March womenswear week is the most crowded and the most expensive. Book central rooms as soon as you commit, then plan days around museum visits and the shopping streets of the 8th arrondissement and the Marais.
For the museums, reserve timed tickets online where the venue offers them. Our France travel page has ideas for days outside the city.
Charles Frederick Worth opened his Paris couture house in 1858, and the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture was formed in 1868 to set out what a couture house was. After the Second World War, its rules required houses to present collections to the press each season, the seed of the biannual showings that became fashion weeks.
The first Paris Fashion Week in its recognised form came in 1973, bringing couture, ready-to-wear and menswear under one organiser. Today the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode sets the dates for four ready-to-wear weeks and two couture weeks a year.
Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports both link to central Paris by RER and bus.
Eurostar arrives at Gare du Nord; TGV services reach Gare de Lyon and Montparnasse.
The Métro is the fastest way between venues; shows rarely sit more than a few stops apart.
The 1st, 8th and 3rd arrondissements are closest to many venues and the fashion houses, and the priciest during show weeks.
The Left Bank and areas along Métro line 1 offer more choice and a quick ride in.
Paris
January in Paris is cold and damp. The Paris-Montsouris 1991-2020 normals give an average high of 7.6°C and a low of 3.2°C, with 47.6 mm of rain over about 10 days.
Expect overcast skies and drizzle; early March is a little milder but just as changeable.
Met at arrivals at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) and driven door to door to Venues across Paris.

General
Not with a ticket. Shows are invitation-only, and guest lists are drawn up by each house for buyers, press and clients. No official public ticketing exists, so offers of paid entry from resellers are almost certainly not genuine.
The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, known as the FHCM. It publishes the dates for each season on its website, fhcm.paris, and the official schedule of shows shortly before each week.
Haute couture is a protected designation in France for made-to-measure clothing produced by houses that meet strict criteria. Because those houses must be approved in Paris, the couture weeks in January and July are a Paris-only fixture.
All over the city. Houses choose their own venues, and the Carrousel du Louvre and the Grand Palais have both hosted major shows. Locations are only announced to guests and on the official schedule close to the date.
In the museums. The Palais Galliera is the city's fashion museum, the Musée Yves Saint Laurent occupies the designer's former couture house on avenue Marceau, and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs has a large fashion and textile collection. Check exhibition schedules before you go.
A 1973 fundraising show at the Palace of Versailles to help pay for its restoration, at which five French and five American designers presented collections. It is remembered as the evening American ready-to-wear held its own against Paris couture.
Yes. French law requires models to hold a medical certificate confirming their health, and LVMH and Kering have pledged not to cast models under 16 in shows representing adults.
It is a busy one. The womenswear weeks in particular push hotel prices up in central arrondissements and fill the better restaurants. Ordinary sightseeing is unaffected, but book further ahead than you normally would.
After. The womenswear seasons run New York, London, Milan, then Paris, so Paris is the last stop and many editors arrive straight from Milan.
Many houses stream their shows live on their own websites and social channels, and the FHCM has also carried show videos on its site. It is the closest most people will get to a front-row view.
Timing & weather
Autumn/winter 2027-2028 womenswear runs from Monday 1 March to Tuesday 9 March 2027. Haute couture spring/summer 2027 comes first, from 25 to 28 January 2027.
