Parki Sea Beach (পারকি সমুদ্র সৈকত)

Parki Sea Beach is a 15 km beach in Anwara upazila, Chattogram district, Bangladesh, on the south side of the Karnaphuli River mouth facing Patenga. It suits city residents and visitors who want a wide, casuarina-lined shore about 28 km from Chattogram city, with views of ships heading into port.

Across the Karnaphuli from Patenga

The Anwara upazila portal places Parki on the Karnaphuli channel, about 8 km from Anwara town. Patenga, the city's main seafront, is directly across the river, and the outer anchorage of Chattogram port lies offshore. Locally the beach and its sand flat are called Parkir Char. It has long been a picnic spot, with repeated plans to modernise it alongside Patenga.

The beach and its red crabs

The sand runs for about 15 km and is 300 to 350 feet wide in places, leaving room even on busy days. A belt of casuarina trees backs the beach. According to local reports, red crabs returned in large numbers after an absence of about 15 years.

Passing cargo ships, speedboats and sea bikes

At the northern end the beach turns toward the river mouth, where cargo ships and tankers pass close to shore. Speedboat rides, sea bikes and horse rides are offered near the main access point; agree the price first. Simple food stalls line the entrance.
