Dulahazra Safari Park is a 2,224-acre safari park run by the Bangladesh Forest Department at Chakaria, Cox's Bazar District, on the Chattogram to Cox's Bazar road about 107 kilometres from Chattogram. Founded in 1999 and the first of its kind in Bangladesh, it suits families breaking the drive to Cox's Bazar.
Sources give 1999 for its founding and 2001 for opening to the public. The Bangladesh Forest Department manages it, and the park keeps a website at safariparkcoxsbazar.com. It covers about 2,224 acres (9 square kilometres) of rolling forest hills and was set up for conservation, research, eco-tourism and recreation.
A 2007 report counted about 4,000 animals of 165 species, while a 2024 Financial Express report gave 2,500 to 3,000. Many came from Dhaka Zoo, which sent lions and tigers bred there. After 2007 animals seized from private owners or donated were moved in, including spotted deer, barking deer, sambar, crocodiles, black bears, pythons, peacocks and emus.
Bengal tigers, lions, crocodiles, bears, deer, monkeys and many birds live in large enclosures set among the hills. Wild elephants native to the area roam the park's forest, which gives it real conservation value, and rides on domesticated elephants are offered.
We check practical details such as entry rules, seasons and costs against official government and tourism sources.
