Low tide
Walk among the exposed coral stones.
Inani lies on Cox's Bazar's Marine Drive in Ukhiya upazila, known for dark coral stones that appear along the shore at low tide and for calmer water than the town beaches. Access is free at all hours. A round trip from Cox's Bazar with time on the sand takes five to six hours.
Inani Sea Beach is a fishing-village beach on Marine Drive in Ukhiya upazila, Cox's Bazar district, Bangladesh, about 29 km south of Cox's Bazar town. It is known for the coral stones that appear at low tide and suits families and anyone who wants calmer water than the town beaches.
Inani lies about 14 km beyond Himchari on the road between Cox's Bazar and Teknaf, with the coastal hills close behind and a strip of casuarina and coconut trees between the road and the sand.
The beach's best-known feature is a field of dark stones in black and green tones exposed as the tide goes out, with small pools caught between them. Visitors often compare them with the rocks at St. Martin's Island. They show most clearly at low tide and in the summer and rainy months, so check the tide table before you set off.
The stones are sharp and slippery. Sandals with grip are worth wearing, and children need watching on the rocks.
Inani was a fishing area long before it became a tourist stop, and fishing still supports most local families. Painted sampans are pulled up on the sand, and in the mornings the catch is landed and sorted on the beach. The shore slopes gently and the waves are usually smaller than at Kolatoli or Sugandha, which is why families favour it, though it pays to stay in shallow water.
