Niladri Lake
Stop at the lake at Tekerghat.
Lalghat is a small border waterfall in Tahirpur, Sunamganj, about 5 km west of Tekerghat near the Tanguar Haor wetlands, fed by water from the limestone hills of Meghalaya. There is no gate and no fee. Visit in daylight, ideally as a quiet stop on a Tanguar Haor and Niladri Lake trip. About an hour at the site is enough.
Lalghat Waterfall is a small border fall in Sreepur Uttar union, Tahirpur upazila, Sunamganj district, Bangladesh, about 5 km west of Tekerghat near border pillar 1196. It suits travellers on a Tanguar Haor and Niladri Lake trip who want a quiet stop below the Meghalaya hills.
The fall lies close to the India and Bangladesh zero point, about 35 km from Sunamganj town and 22 km by road from Tahirpur, or 15 km by waterway. Its clear water comes down from the Khasi hills of Meghalaya across the border. Motorbikes for the border road can be hired at Tekerghat.
Tekerghat was once a limestone quarrying area, and Niladri Lake, officially Shaheed Siraj Lake, is a flooded quarry about 5 km from the fall. Lalghat shares the same rolling grassland, with the steep hills of Meghalaya rising just beyond the line.
The fall is modest: a small stream that drops over rock and runs out across flat land toward the haor. Village houses, grazing cattle and Indian border posts on the hills above make up the scene.
The ride from Tekerghat passes Barik Tila, a low hill with views over the Jadukata River, and stone-filled channels where workers collect gravel. Few tourists stop at Lalghat compared with Jaflong or Bichnakandi, so it rarely feels crowded. Tanguar Haor, the Jadukata River and Shimul Bagan are all part of the same circuit.
