What to expect

TransNusa is an Indonesian airline that first flew on 4 August 2005, in cooperation with Trigana Air Service, stopped flying in September 2020 and was relaunched in October 2022 with backing linked to China Aircraft Leasing Group. Headquartered in Jakarta, it uses Soekarno-Hatta as its main hub and Bali's Ngurah Rai airport as a second base. It is owned 51% by PT Panca Global International Indonesia and 49% by Linkasia Airlines Group, which is linked to China Everbright. After a push as a "premium service carrier" from February 2024, it repositioned in April 2025 as a medium-service carrier, with checked baggage built into every fare.

New Thai routes in 2026

Thailand became one of its growth markets in 2026. On 6 August 2026 TransNusa opened a twice-daily route from Jakarta to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi; the first flight arrived full, and the service was later reported moving up from the A320 to the larger A321. On 9 September 2026 it added Bali to Phuket, starting four times a week and planned to go daily from 3 October 2026. That flight links two beach destinations without a change in Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur or Singapore. See our Jakarta to Bangkok flights, Bangkok to Jakarta flights, Bali to Phuket flights and Phuket to Bali flights pages to compare fares.

TransNusa has no Dhaka flights, but Biman and US-Bangla fly Dhaka to Bangkok into Suvarnabhumi, the same airport TransNusa uses for Jakarta.

Routes outside Thailand

Elsewhere the airline reaches Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Singapore, Perth, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou, and from 19 October 2026 Melbourne. Its Comac C909 regional jets made it the first operator of the type outside China.

Before the relaunch TransNusa was a turboprop operator. It flew Fokker 50s from 2008, gained its own air operator certificate in 2011 and added ATR 72-600s in 2017. At home, Surabaya and Makassar services resumed in September 2026, and 25 more C909s are on order.
