Bali to Phuket flight guide
Indonesia AirAsia and TransNusa fly nonstop from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Bali to Phuket International Airport (HKT) in southern Thailand. The 2,646 km flight takes about 3 hours 50 minutes, a direct link between two beach islands.
Both airlines are low-cost, so the basic fare covers a cabin bag only. Indonesia AirAsia flies the route twice a day. TransNusa launched its daily service on 9 September 2026: the inaugural flight 8B541 left Ngurah Rai at 11:40 local time and landed in Phuket at 14:09, carrying 174 passengers. Phuket is TransNusa's fourth international destination from Bali.
The airport sits on the narrow neck of the island beside Kuta, a short drive from Seminyak and Jimbaran but an hour or more from Ubud, so leave early from the hills. For an international flight, aim to arrive about three hours before departure.
Entry rules for Thailand depend on your nationality, and every foreign visitor completes the Thailand Digital Arrival Card online within 72 hours before landing; our Thailand visa page has the details. The 60-day visa exemption ended on 15 September 2026; tourists from 60 countries and territories now get 30 days.
The airport is at the northern end of the island. With an early-afternoon arrival you can catch a bus: AOT lists the Airport Bus Express to Patong Beach from the arrivals exit between 08:00 and 20:00, and an hourly bus to Phuket Town from 08:15 to 20:15. The Phuket Smart Bus leaves from the domestic terminal and runs south through Kamala, Karon and Kata to Rawai. Public minivans also serve Patong, Karon and Kata. A taxi to the main beaches takes about an hour, and car rental counters are on the first floor.
Set your watch back one hour on landing (Bali is UTC+8, Thailand UTC+7). For onward trips, domestic flights link Phuket with Bangkok, where you can connect across Asia, for example to South Asia from Suvarnabhumi (see Bangkok to Dhaka flights).
