Philippines AirAsia is the Philippine member of the AirAsia group. It was set up in December 2010 as a joint venture, began flying in March 2012, and in 2015 merged with Zest Airways, the domestic carrier it had bought into two years earlier, under a single operating certificate.
Its head office, RedPoint, sits at NAIA Terminal 3 in Pasay, and since 29 March 2026 its international flights leave from NAIA Terminal 1. A second hub in Cebu was relaunched in November 2025. Sister airlines Thai AirAsia, Indonesia AirAsia and the Malaysian parent AirAsia share the same booking system.
In Thailand the airline flies one route: Manila to Bangkok Don Mueang, the older Bangkok airport that the AirAsia group uses as its Thai base. A direct Cebu to Don Mueang service announced for June 2026 did not settle into the schedule, and booked passengers were moved onto connections via Manila and Kuala Lumpur. Fares from all airlines on the corridor are on our Manila to Bangkok flights and Bangkok to Manila flights pages. Flights from Dhaka (Dhaka to Bangkok) land at Suvarnabhumi, so joining the Manila flight means a road transfer across the city.
The international network from Manila is compact: Seoul, Osaka, Taipei, Kaohsiung, Macau, Kota Kinabalu and Da Nang, with Tokyo Narita suspended for part of 2026 and the Kuala Lumpur route ending on 23 October 2026. In June 2026 services to Roxas, Puerto Princesa and Bohol were suspended.
At its launch the airline was 60% owned by three Filipino investors and 40% by AirAsia. Marianne Hontiveros, Alfredo Yao and Antonio Cojuangco Jr. sold their stakes in 2019 to F&S Holdings, which in June 2023 sold everything to AA Com Travel Philippines and brought the airline fully under AirAsia. A stock market listing was deferred in March 2020 and revisited in March 2025.
The first flights on 28 March 2012 left from Clark for Kalibo and Davao; the Clark base closed in October 2013 and operations moved to Manila. In 2024 the airline ended all its mainland China flights and on 18 October suspended the Cebu inter-island network, a hub it relaunched with flights from 15 November 2025. Davao lost its service on 22 January 2025.
